More tour news *spoilers*
Posted: 29 April 2004

Stereomover from Peter Rauhofer's forum has posted these little tour snippets:

The set list looks definite and includes Express Yourself, Lucky Star, Like A Prayer, and Justify My love as some of the classics being presented in the show.
Express Yourself follows American Life - as the same themes are demonstrated in those songs....freedom, censorship....both are done in a military style.
Bedtime story is now being moved toward the end of the show.
Dress rehearsals start next week. Details are being fine tuned such as musical direction, choreography and song order.

Madonna Goes to War, This Time in Court
Posted: 29 April 2004

Madonna has officially commented on the continuing saga of Maverick Vs. Warner Brothers for the first time in this article from the New York Times today:

Madonna donned fatigues last year for a video to promote her latest album, 'American Life.' Now she is drumming up more military metaphors for an increasingly bitter public battle with Warner Music Group and its new chief executive and part owner, Edgar Bronfman Jr.
'I find myself in the ludicrous position of being sued by my own record company, whom I have been loyal, industrious and reliable to for over 20 years,' Madonna said in a statement, her first comment since the two sides filed dueling lawsuits late last month. 'For them to behave this way is nothing short of treason.'
The dispute does not involve Madonna in her role as one of Warner's biggest stars. Instead it revolves around Maverick Records, the music label that she and two others own with Warner Music in a partnership that is to expire by the end of this year. Either Warner or Madonna's group is supposed to buy out the other side.

Madonna's partners in Maverick, Guy Oseary and Ronnie Dashev, say they were shocked by a lawsuit on the same day that they were bargaining for a resolution in good faith. Bert Fields, Maverick's lawyer, called the suit a stab in the back for Madonna, who has sold millions of CD's for the Warner Brothers Records label.

'This is not about Madonna, an artist with whom we have a longstanding and very successful relationship,' Mr. Tanous, a company spokesman said.

Madonna's manager, Caresse Henry, said the legal dispute was hurting Madonna's relationship as an artist with Warner. 'It's like serving somebody divorce papers and then asking them when they want to go to dinner,' Ms. Henry said.

Swing-time for Madonna and Tony
Posted: 28 April 2004 - *EXCLUSIVE* Thanks to Wil

Here is a great story about the filming of the scene from A League Of Their Own where Madonna swing-dances with Tony Savino:

It was so hot on the day they recorded the scene they actually had oxygen tanks on set for the dancers to use between takes because it was so dusty and hot.
Madonna was a great sport about the whole thing and also incredibly professional. At times, she would beg Penny (Marshall - the director) to let Rosie do the scene. Rosie and Penny would point out that the chance of Tony being able to flip Rosie around his back wasn't very high!
At first Madonna wasn't too keen on the dance move where he flips her behind his back, but after doing it once, she liked it and was very impressed with how it looked in the scene.
Overall, he was very nervous to work with her, but that she was nothing but nice, generous and funny. He said that between takes she was always making jokes.

Who says Madonna can't act?
Posted: 26 April 2004

In today's New York Post there is a review for the DVD of A League Of Their Own - Special Edition which was released in the US last week.

Who says Madonna can't act? Whether it's her debut in 'Desperately Seeking Susan,' her wisecracking moll in 'Dick Tracy,' her Golden Globe-winning turn as Argentina's 'Evita' or her hilarious work in 1992's 'A League of Their Own' ($24.96; Columbia TriStar), Madonna has delivered some sterling work.
Loads of extras, like commentary from director Penny Marshall, a documentary and 15 deleted scenes.

Rambling Tsar comes to the aid of Madonna
Posted: 25 April 2004 - From The Independent

Famous for its rural tranquility, the Wiltshire countryside is echoing to a strange new noise. It is the sound of angry protest as 'keep out' notices are hammered into place.
Pop icon, sometime actress and now a country landowner, Madonna stands accused of persecuting ramblers and blocking ancient rights of way on her recently acquired estate. Determined to protect her privacy, the singer wants to ban walkers from sections of her Ashcombe grounds, which are due to be opened up under the new freedom to roam legislation.
Now, on the eve of a planning enquiry called to rule on access to her land, she has been given the surprise backing of Chris Smith MP, newly elected president of the Ramblers' Association, and one of the campaigners who led the fight to open up the countryside to walkers.
Mr Smith, the former culture secretary, has come to the pop star's aid, denying that she is bent on closing down the ancient Wessex Ridgeway that runs through her grounds, and supporting her right to lodge an appeal against the right to roam.
'There's been a lot of rather inaccurate reporting about her case,' he said last week, in his first interview since becoming president. 'You would think she's trying to close footpaths, which she isn't; that walkers are going to be walking close to her house, which they aren't, and that she has personally written to Tony Blair. She hasn't.'
'She does dispute a portion of the proposed [right to roam] map. That will be an issue to be decided in the proper way by the inspector.'

The Schirmer-Mosel Showroom in Munich, Germany is hosting the Madonna/Steven Klein X-STaTIC PRO=CeSS photographic and video installation exhibition.

It appears that this exhibition is slightly different to the one held in New York last year. The photographs, some small, some very large, are all behind glass and there is only one small video installation.
The exhibition, which opened today, is extremely popular and many people who have visited say it is well worth a look.
Some of the photographs are for sale as well as some limited-edition videos of the exhibit.

Madonna shaping up for a re-Invention
Posted: 23 April 2004 - From popdirt.com

A source tells The Glasgow Daily Record that Madonna is going through a gruelling fitness regime for this summer's world tour.
'Madonna is a perfectionist and, at 45, she's not taking any chances,' the source explained. 'She does yoga twice a day and running, cycling and weights once a day because she wants to be in peak condition. The queen of pop isn't ready to hand her crown to Britney or Christina just yet.'

The Palace Of Auburn Hills will be announcing a 'very big show' tomorrow and the rumours are that it is Madonna.

Tour news, confirmed song, rehearsals *spoiler*
Posted: 22 April 2004 - From DCI.org

So what’s Madonna really like? Allan Dekko, the Santa Clara Vanguard’s tour manager who recently taught the material girl some rifle moves for her upcoming 'Reinvention' world tour, said the superstar is 'a perfectionist.'
A mutual friend of Dekko and Madonna’s head choreographer Jamie King arranged for Dekko to display some rifle moves for King, who was thinking of including a rifle segment in the show. 'It was one of those 'who you know' situations,' King said. After Dekko’s demonstration, he was hired to instruct Madonna and her dancers.
Dekko worked with Madonna and seven male dancers on 64 counts of her 1989 song 'Express Yourself.' The performers are keeping the riflework very 'military,' according to Dekko. 'It was basically kept to a series of manual of arms and variations on them. Anything too fancy, they didn’t like,' Dekko said.
Madonna’s rifle abilities were adequate, and the atmosphere very direct. 'I won't say that she is a natural, but what is being asked of her she did well,' Dekko said. 'I found her pleasant to work with. She doesn’t really dilly-dally.'
Dekko’s instruction happened during the last hour of her daily choreography rehearsals on a soundstage south of Beverly Hills, Calif. 'The rehearsal atmosphere is warm. The sound stage is kept very warm as that is the way she likes to rehearse. She would work on choreography from 5 to 8 p.m. I usually worked with her privately the last hour. She works very precisely. She has a job to do and she wants to get it done,' Dekko said.
'She is a visual learner,' Dekko said of Madonna’s learning ability. 'You show her, and you do it with her. She doesn’t go on until she feels comfortable with what she is trying to learn. She’s going to do it until she doesn’t have to think about it any more – (until) it’s on instant recall.'
Despite Madonna’s penchant for wild costumes on stage, Dekko said she always wore sweatpants during these rehearsals. However, 'She always smelled good. She would walk in and you would go 'She’s here.'' All rehearsals were closely monitored by a bodyguard.
Fans will find plenty of older Madonna material on the Reinvention tour. 'It’s pretty much her old stuff. It’s a pretty packed show of her greatest hits,' Dekko said, adding that in addition to spinning rifles, dancers will be dangling from bungee chords during part of the show. Overall, the choreography reminds Dekko of Cirque du Soleiel.

Maverick answer back
Posted: 22 April 2004 - Thanks to landon

Hollywood A-list attorney Bert Fields, who is representing Madonna's label in the legal wrangling between Maverick Records and joint-venture partner Warner Music Group, gave this statement in an article published today by Hits Daily Double.

'It wasn't enough that they pulled this stab-in-the back suing of Madonna's company when we were in the middle of settlement negotiations, without warning. But now they've turned loose the massive Warner PR machine to smear Madonna and her partners with a bunch of baloney.
For example, they claim they've incurred all these huge losses. That's absolute hogwash. If you include all the money that's skimmed off the top by the various Warner entities before it trickles down to Maverick, the Warner Music Group as a whole has a handsome profit - probably 100 million dollars. So for them to go around and say they've incurred these huge losses is grossly misleading.'
'They say that our claims are baseless. Well, I want to hear one Warner executive, just one testify under oath that they have really supplied the services that they are required by contract to supply. They know they haven't done that. They know that they are vulnerable there and that they are in breach of the contract. And yet, they put out this kind of claim.
To me, this sends a real message to artists who are looking for a record company to sign with, because apparently, this is how they're going to treat their people. If you talk to people, managers for example, whose clients were putting albums, about what Warner did or didn't do, it's just appalling, and we're going to prove it in court.'

Maverick's Material Debt?
Posted: 21 April 2004 - From Hollywood Reporter/Reuters - thanks to Sharon

Madonna's Maverick Records label, home to the Material Girl as well as Alanis Morissette and Michelle Branch, has lost $66 million since 1999, according to recently unsealed court documents filed by its adversary and partner, Warner Music Group.
The documents relate to the latest spat in the 12-year-relationship between Maverick and Warner Music, which was recently bought from Time Warner Inc. by an investment group led by Edgar Bronfman Jr.
Last month, Maverick sued Warner Music for $200 million, claiming breach of contract and fraud. The Warner documents were part of a pre-emptive claim filed in a Delaware court asking a judge to find that the company had fulfilled its commitment to Maverick.
The documents claim that in order for Maverick to get out of its joint venture with Warner Music, which is up at the end of the year, Maverick will have to pay $92.5 million, in addition to the value of Warner's interest in the label. The price tag includes the $66 million in losses, a $20 million loan and $6.5 million in unrecouped fees.
According to Warner Music's filing, if Maverick cannot raise the money needed to buy itself out the joint venture, Warner can convert the label into a 'purely passive economic interest,' taking all control of the label away from Maverick. In this case, Maverick would reap no profits from the label until the losses were repaid.
A Warner Music spokesman declined to comment. Maverick could not be immediately reached. The label is gearing up for the May 18 release of Morissette's first album in two years, 'So-Called Chaos.' The following week, Madonna begins a world tour in Los Angeles.

Posted: 19 April 2004

Last week madonnalicious asked for suggestions and contributions from fans for a new Madonna documentary being made by a UK production company.

We received many great offers of home movie footage and pictures of Madonna, and also had great suggestions of memorable Madonna TV clips that fans would like to see again in the documentary.

The documentary will air in the UK in the summer, and will feature a wide range of interviewees for the programme who will be able to take us from Madonna's early days struggling in New York, through to leaving America for a new life in London.
Interviewees will include Dan Gilroy, Stephen Bray, Mark Kamins, Maripol, Jellybean and Niki Haris.

It is not too late to contribute to the programme yet, so if you have a favourite Madonna clip you would like to see, or have some home footage or pictures of Madonna, then please email webmaster@madonnalicious.com

Madonna will be raking in the green in Ireland
Posted: 19 April 2004 - From MSNBC News

No wonder they call her the Material Girl.
Madonna is launching her Reinvention Tour, and some of the financial details of the concerts have been leaking out — leading one source to quip that it should be called her Reinvestment Tour.
Madonna is looking to play a one-day gig in Ireland, where she’s filed plans with a county council board, and according to local reports, Madonna has hammered out a deal where she will receive either 4.2 million pounds (over $7.5 million) or 98.5 percent of the box office — whichever is greater. With tickets rumored to be in the $200 range, that could be one hefty payday.
Madonna’s rep, Liz Rosenberg, denies the figures, but declines to give specifics. She says final ticket prices haven’t been determined, but she also acknowledges that the singer will rake in plenty of cash during her Reinvention Tour. 'Will Madonna make lots of money on her tour?' Rosenberg asks. 'Absolutely. And she will earn every penny.'

Material Girl skips a beat
Posted: 18 April 2004

Another month, another UK Rich List. This time it is the turn of The Sunday Times 2004 Rich List to take a look at the 1000 richest people in the UK.
Madonna and Guy are 199th in the overall list, Madonna is at number 15 is the list of 100 Wealthiest Women, and at number 6 in the list of Music Millionaires.

The Material Girl is still struggling with her latest chameleon change into the role of English country lady. Ramblers will soon take Madonna and her film director husband to court over access rights to footpaths on their £#9m estate in Wiltshire. At 45, Madonna is reinventing her image of the early 1990s when she produced the raunchy book Sex. Today, perhaps because of the influence of her children, Lourdes and Rocco, she is into The English Roses, her children's book, which had an initial print run of 1m copies in 30 languages. She may need a healthy sales run.
Swept Away, her last film, which was directed by Ritchie, was a disaster and lost £4m. Even her music appeal is not what it was. her album, American Life, reached No.1 in many parts of the world, but its sales were far lower than those of previous albums.
Her earnings last year were reckoned to be £15m, a large slug of which came from advertising Gap. Her single, Die Another Day, made her the first woman singer to register 50 top 10 hits in Britain. But her best earning years may be behind her.
From 1986 to 1993 her total earnings were about £125m, according to Forbes magazine's annual survey of the highest-paid entertainers. She does not feature in that list now.
She married Ritchie in 2000 and they have made London their base. Ritchie, 35, is working on a ganster movie, Revolver, in Los Angeles, trying to recapture the success of his first two films.
The couple's properties include a £7m London home, a £8m Beverley Hills mansion and the 1,200-acre Wiltshire estate.
We cut our valuation of the couple this year. But Ritchie's Revolver, if it is a hit, and Madonna's re-Invention tour this summer could raise their wealth next year.
2003: £227m Position 149

I never worked with Madonna
Posted: 18 April 2004

UK magazine M Celebs features an interview with actor Aidan Quinn, and of course they just had to ask him about working with Madonna in the 1985 film Desperately Seeking Susan:

'What was it like working with Madonna?' is the most-asked question of my career, but it never happened. We were both in Desperately Seeking Susan, but we didn't have any scenes together.
I actually saw it on TV the other day, and I thought, 'Jesus, who is that skinny boy?'

Madonna moves in with P.Diddy
Posted: 16 April 2004 - From In Touch magazine - thanks to Alex

When M's Re-Invention tour stops in Miami, the security obessed star - who travels with an entourage of trainers, nannies, chefs and personal assistants - might not be taking over a Miami hotel.
Instead, she may stay at P.Diddy's new $18 million mansion, which includes eight bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, and a spot to park the yacht, of course.

A profit-making venture for the Material Girl
Posted: 16 April 2004 - From the New York Post - thanks to Stephen

More tour and Kabbalah related gossip was published in today's New York Post's Page Six gossip column to which Madonna's rep Liz Rosenberg has commented on and dismissed the rumours:

Madonna is so devoted to Kabbalah, she has broken ties with her longtime best friend Debi Mazar because Mazar doesn't believe in the tradition of Jewish mysticism.
'They are no longer best friends,' a source in Madonna's camp confirmed. 'Debi is very hurt and confused, but Madonna has made up her mind. These women have been friends for 20 years and now, nothing.'
The women have young children a year apart, which initially brought them closer. A rep for Mazar declined comment.
Liz Rosenberg, Madonna's rep, said: 'They are still friends. Madonna is rehearsing six days a week so she doesn't have a lot of time, but the love is still there.'

Another source at Madonna's label Maverick said: 'She is thinking of having several nights on her tour where the proceeds will be donated to charity. And the Kabbalah charities are of course on that list.' Madonna can expect to rake in at least $50 million.
A rep for the singer said: 'This tour is similar to all the other tours she has done. There is nothing unusual about it.' As for donating to Kabbalah, her rep said: 'This is a profit-making venture for the Material Girl.'

More Slane news
Posted: 15 April 2004 - Thanks to Jamesy

Ticketmaster Ireland sent out a email to subscribers yesterday with the top news story as Slane 2004 - Madonna to headline.
No other information was given apart from the date of the concert, which was given as Sunday 29 August. The email said that details of the price and on-sale date of tickets are to be advised.

Newspaper The Irish Independent published this story about Slane today:

Madonna fans face ticket prices of more than €100 for her Slane concert this August to pay for an extraordinary €4.2m one-off deal.
The 45-year-old Material Girl lived up to her name - she has hammered out a no-lose megabuck deal. She gets the lump sum or 98.5pc of the net profit - whichever is the greater.
Either way that works out at around €2m an hour for the controversial singer.
And, according to well placed sources, it will push prices above the €100 mark.
Details of the Madonna deal were discovered as an official planning application for the star's first concert in Ireland was being lodged with Meath County Council.
The local authority confirmed last night that an application for the controversial Slane concert had been received late yesterday.
This means that Madonna will, if and when planning permission is granted, become the first female singer to headline at Slane.

Since Lord Henry Mount Charles' unofficial announcement last week, Ticketmaster has received 200,000 calls to its phonelines and hits to its website about the concert. Some 60pc of its calls are in connection with the gig.

One showbiz insider said a sell-out of 80,000 tickets at €140 would leave Madonna, MCD (the promoters) and Lord Henry Mount Charles with a good night's wages.

Madonna is the Material Girl because....*spoiler*
Posted: 14 April 2004 - From MSNBC - thanks to Stephen

Madonna is getting custom-made false eyelashes for her upcoming tour from the same woman who made those infamous mink lashes for J.Lo.
But her rep denies buzz that there'll be 10 pairs - one for each costume change - and that they'll cost upwards of $2,000.
'She is not changing eyelashes for each costume,' her spokeswoman, Liz Rosenberg, told the Scoop. 'Madonna is the Material Girl because she doesn't spend money that recklessly. She has two kids to put through college for goodness sake.'

Madonna wears a Queen's pearls
Posted: 14 April 2004 - From Us Weekly - thanks to MadonnaMegaCollection

Madonna sure loves Marie Antoinette. Hot Stuff has learned that the pearl earrings Madonna, 45, wears in ads for her upcoming re-Invention tour - in which she dresses up as the 18th-century monarch - were taken from the Queen's actual crown!
'They are rare natural pearls, one brown, one white and at least 20 millimeters,' says Los Angeles jeweler Neil Lane, who lent the jewels from his private collection.

Madonna next to be Punk'd?

In today's Metro newspaper gossip column The Green Room, a big hint is given that Madonna may be the next victim of fellow Kabbalah follower Ashton Kutcher's TV show Punk'd....see if you think Madonna fits the description:

Demi Moore's squeeze Ashton Kutcher plans to set up a 'major US star living in London and a pop star on tour' for his show Punk'd.

No tour dates on Friday nights - Liz comments
Posted: 13 April 2004 - From the Daily Mirror

Madonna is proving just how devoted she is to Kabbalah by refusing to perform on Friday nights.
The mystical religion, based in Judaism, holds Friday nights as a holy time and, as a committed follower, Madge, 45, insists she won't play any of the dates on her forthcoming world tour on that day.
Her publicist Liz Rosenberg confirms: 'She is observing Shabbat on Friday evenings.'
So, not such a Material-istic girl after all....

50 Hot dates for your diary
Posted: 13 April 2004

UK newspaper The Observer published a guide to entitled 50 Hot Dates For Your Diary featuring the 50 must-see events this Spring/Summer in the UK.
Madonna's re-Invention tour dates in London were featured at number 4 - even though the tour is a hot date the writer comments on the high price of tickets:

Madonna in Earls Court and Wembley? Not really that big a deal, now that she lives in London and probably drives through them regularly on her way to her stately pile, scattering coins for West London paupers from her platinum-plated people-mover.
Madonna appearing at Earls Court and Wembley is another matter, though. Whatever the state of her most recent album, Madonna's tours are legendarily excellent.
They're not always good value, though. The cheap seats for the re-Invention tour tour cost £50, rising to £150. Wembley is £75. So far all nights are sold out.

No tour for Niki
Posted: 13 April 2004

Madonna's long-time backing singer has confirmed she will not be working on the re-Invention tour - here is her statement from her official website www.nikiharis.com:

For my dance fans, I promise a new dance single this summer! I want everyone coming out to the Prides Festival’s and see my new show. Also check the tour schedule for those dates.
OK, now for the information that everyone seems to want to know. I will not be singing background this year. Time for change and change is good!
To everyone who will miss me on that tour, come see me at my shows. To those who are dismayed by this decision, remember things that aren't changing are dying! I celebrate life now and I am grateful for all things old and new.
My daughter, Jordan, turned 1 February 20th, 2004. And looking at her reminds me everyday that life moves quickly…nothing is promised. Stay in the moment. Be grateful for all things!
I know I have your continued support no matter what shows I am doing, but it’s time for me to concentrate on my music and my child. Your support throughout the years lets me know that my music is what you want to hear. I can always sing background at another time, but now it’s time for me to place my microphone on the front of the stage.

Residents plan legal action to stop Slane concert
Posted: 10 April 2004 - From the Irish Independent - thanks to DrownedMadonna

Legal action to try to stop the planned Madonna concert going ahead on a Sunday in Slane Castle is being considered by villagers strongly opposed to the plan.
They fear that if the concert goes ahead on a Sunday, it will lead to serious public order problems.
Resident Eddie Hudson said that he can recall the serious disturbances that took place in Slane when the last superstar, Bob Dylan, played there on a Sunday in 1984.
'Within the village are the same families as 20 years ago,' stated Mr Hudson. 'People don't forget these things.'
Mr Hudson has an agreement dating back to 1985 that a concert would never be held on a Sunday again.
Slane village has a community of 800 people, he said. Already a petition organised by another local resident, Patricia Harding, has hundreds of signatures.
'We are not talking about policing, we are talking an invasion of hundreds of thousands of people,' Mr Hudson added.
Slane Castle owner, Lord Henry Mountcharles, acknowledged yesterday that he had an agreement with certain individuals dating back to the mid-Eighties. But he suggested times had changed - that agreement had allowed for just one concert a year but there had been two concerts there one year.
Mountcharles would now be making a licence application for a concert on 29 August, the only date Madonna could play.
If a licence was refused, then the concert would be off, he said.
An official announcement on the ticket prices is due to be made in 10 days.

Madonna and Quentin Tarantino in 1995 Quentin on Madonna
Posted: 09 April 2004 - Thanks to Alex

The new issue of the American publication Entertainment Weekly (16 April issue) features a cover story with Quentin Tarantino to promote his new film Kill Bill Vol. 2.
In it, he was asked about Madonna and her acting skills:
Entertainment Weekly: Madonna has been a conversation point in a few of your films. Are you interested in working with her?
Quentin Tarantino: I've always said that Madonna has gotten a bad rap. She was the only actor who knew what she was doing in Dick Tracy. She was my favorite in A League of Their Own. If I had something right for her, I would totally cast her.

Madonna Provokes Irish Ire with Sunday Concert
Posted: 09 April 2004 - From Reuters - thanks to Erin

Pop diva Madonna came under fire from Christians in Ireland on Friday after it was confirmed she would play her first ever Irish concert on a Sunday.
Madonna is due to play Slane Castle, 30 miles north of Dublin, on Sunday, August 29, the castle's owner Lord Henry Mount Charles confirmed.
He denied that Madonna, who has developed an interest in Jewish mysticism recently, had refused to play on Saturday because it is the Jewish Sabbath.
'It is the only date and day feasible,' he said.
But Joe Deegan, Slane's parish priest, said the decision was insensitive in a country where 90 percent of the population is Roman Catholic.
'The Lord's Day for a lot of people around this part of the world is Sunday and it seems a bit inconsiderate and insensitive that our religious beliefs are not taken into account,' he told RTE state radio on Friday.
The last time Slane Castle hosted a major concert on a Sunday - in 1984 when Bob Dylan played - it sparked riots.
'I knew people would stir up memories of 1984,' Lord Mount Charles said.
'This year Bob Dylan is playing in Galway on Sunday, June 27. So if he can play there on a Sunday, I am puzzled why there is opposition to Madonna playing Slane on a Sunday.'
Deegan said he was also concerned about the content of Madonna's notoriously raunchy stage show.
'It's very sexually provocative,' he said, adding, however, that he would probably go to concert, whenever it was staged, because he enjoyed Madonna's music.

Irish radio station 2FM interviewed Lord Henry Mountcharles, the owner of Ireland's Slane Castle today and he confirmed that Madonna would play there on Sunday 29 August.

However the Irish Independent newspaper states that a formal application for Madonna's concert at Slane has not been lodged yet. The application for the licence will be lodged with Meath County Council.

No official confirmation of this date has yet been obtained from Madonna's team.

Tour video backdrop casting *spoiler*
Posted: 07 April 2004 *EXCLUSIVE*

Further information has been given in a new casting call for actors to take part in the filming of video back drops for the re-Invention tour.
The shoot is described as ....a filmed portraiture of various interesting persons.

Here are some of the parts they are looking to cast:
Arab boy meets Jewish boy. Sounds like an 'if kids ruled the world' type peace vignette. This will be a desert shot.

African American Models Age 18-35. Still interesting portraiture faces, but the director now wants to throw a few young, hipper, educated, affluent type models into that mix.

These video shoots will take place on April 15-19 (weather permitting).

She's still The Queen
Posted: 02 April 2004

Today's Liz Smith column in the New York Post talked about Madonna touring again:

Madonna's 're-Invention' tour sold out instantly around the world. (Madison Square Garden added four more shows, as the first two vanished in a puff of smoke.)
She can be a married quasi-British matron; a mother of two; a children's book author; a devotee of the Kaballah; and even make a record not everybody's crazy about.
But just put out the word that she'll appear onstage, and it's 1984 all over again. She's still the queen.
