Guy looks to Kabbalah for a hit film
Posted: 15 December 2002

From Sunday Express:
Guy is turning to divine inpsiration for his next film. It is not another gangster movie, but a spiritual quest inspired by his obession with Kabbalah, the Jewish mystical doctrine that promises 'complete fulfilment' through study of the Five Books of Moses, which he shares with his wife Madonna.
'It's not another blood-and-guts swear fest but a much more thoughful and meditative film. People will be very surprised by it. Kabbalah has influenced many aspects of their personal lives and now Guy wants to bring it into his professional life' reveals a source.
Now the director is holed up in the couple's central London home writing The 49th Gate, a drama about people trapped between heaven and hell. The source explains: 'It's inspired by the teachings of Kabbalah and the belief that there are 50 levels of holiness a person must reach but the 50th is pretty much impossible. Moses never attained it.'
No doubt The Missus will approve. Such is her obession with Kabbalah that she was recently reported to have sent her friends a book on it with a note saying 'Read it or else.'

Lord Of The Ritchie's Rings
Posted: 11 December 2002

Jeweller Stephen Webster speaks to Hello! magazine (17 December 2002 issue) about his jewellery, and how his work rose to fame when he created the rings for Madonna and Guy's wedding.
In 2000 he got a call from Madonna's record company, Maverick, asking if he could make a ring for her future husband Guy Ritchie - a platinum band studded with six diamonds. 'It was one of the great things that changed my career,' he affirms. 'She was closely involved in the design process and I was very nervous when it came time to deliver it. When I told her, she said, 'What have you got to be nervous about?' which was quite funny as it was one of the biggest weddings of the year.
Not long after, he was asked by Guy to make Madonna's wedding ring, giving him the added responsibility of keeping the couple's designs secret from each other as well as the world's press. 'I kept it simple and made a platinum ring for her that went with her engagement ring. You never really make a big design statement with a wedding ring.'
