Madonna is the most popular celebrity in 2006
Posted: 30 December 2006 - From PR Newswire

She beat the likes of Charlotte Church and Robbie Williams to top a survey of the most popular personalities requested by people searching on the entertainment search engine Celebrities Worldwide. Richard Brecker of www.celebritiesworldwide.com said: 'The results show quite emphatically that more people were interested in Madonna than any other celebrity or reality star this year.' Her ability to stay ahead is phenomenal - particularly in such a difficult year.'
The singer attracted great controversy over the much publicised adoption of her son David from Malawi and has also reportedly faced marriage difficulties with her husband Guy Ritchie.
It has not been a good year for David Beckham who has slipped from No 4 ranking as the most requested name in 2005 to his current number 11 spot.
Beckham relinquished his captaincy of the England soccer team following their poor showing in the World Cup, has been dropped from the squad by new manager Steve McLaren and has struggled to hold a regular place in the first team at Real Madrid.
But some consolation - Becks still finishes five places higher this year than his publicity hungry wife Victoria.
Little Britain TV star Matt Lucas in 10th position proves a bigger hit than his co-star David Walliams who trails four places behind Simon Cowell and Sharon Osbourne, star judges on the hit TV series 'X Factor' battle it out at 31st and 32nd spot respectively. One time showbiz outcast Noel Edmonds has catapulted back into the reckoning through the success of his TV show 'Deal or No Deal'.
Celebrities Worldwide is accepted as a benchmark of celebrity status and popularity and its website attracts more than 4 million visitors per year.

TOP 10 NAMES of 2006
1 - Madonna
2 - Charlotte Church
3 - Jamie Oliver MBE
4 - Robbie Williams
5 - Jonathan Ross OBE
6 - Billie Piper
7 - Ricky Gervais
8 - Jeremy Clarkson
9 - Stephen Fry
10 - Matt Lucas

Japanese TV: 15 Films About Madonna
Posted: 30 December 2006

Here's a great new twist on the Biography format. We take an exciting subject like Madonna and present 15 films about her that comment on her in fresh, different ways. In Material Girl, a fashion guru analyzes Madonna's biggest fashion foul-ups, and in Ray of Light, we hear a song parody about Madonna and Kabbalah, the system of Jewish mysticism embraced by the pop superstar. It's Madonna in a whole new light, and 15 times as much fun.

One of the subjects of these films is madonnalicious visitor Kaori - who made the Japanese Do It Better tshirt that Madonna wore onstage at both her Tokyo Dome Confessions Tour concerts, after Madonna's team had spotted Kaori wearing it at the Osaka shows. Kaori was interviewed at the Tokyo shows in September.

The show airs on A&E TV on Sunday 31 December at 4am/3C.

Below are pictures of Madonna wearing Kaori's tshirt (pictures thanks to Kit) and pictures of Kaori being interviewed and pictured with a fellow fan RGD Lee.

Madonna learning Malawian language
Posted: 29 December 2006 - From Digital Spy

Madonna and Guy Ritchie are learning Chichewa - the native language of their adopted son from Malawi, according to a report.
The couple are said to want to help David Banda, who they controversially fostered earlier this year, stay close to his culture. They are confident they will keep him despite legal challenges, but have said he will have the option of returning to Africa when he is older.
'Madonna and Guy use the few words they’ve learned,' a source told The Sun. 'Mummy, daddy, hello, my love and some others, every day.'
'Madonna knows a Chichewa lullaby called 'Gona Mana' and has been working on a guitar piece to go along with it. David’s a very smart little chap who idolises his brother Rocco.'

As reported, M by Madonna is slated to hit stores this March. An H&M spokeswoman declined to comment.

Love, 42, feels it time for the two stars to put the past behind them and form a friendship. The Malibu singer explains, 'We have not spoken since her wedding. As well as the books (10 in total), 7 very large posters and 3 large, full size, cut-out figures reproduced from Madonna's fifth book 'Lotsa de Casha' with illustrations by Rui Paes, will also be auctioned.
Each of the 7 posters consist of a large, full size, image of 'Lotsa' sporting a plumed hat and carrying toys, and the 3 cut-out figures are 'Lotsa' (shown below), 'The Wise Old Man' and 'Sun And Clouds'.
These posters and cut-out figures were used during Rui Paes's exhibition of the original watercolours for Madonna's book 'Lotsa de Casha', which took place last October, at Teatro Sao Carlos, in Lisbon.

Absentee bids will be accepted until Wednesday 06 December by 12:00 noon. These can be made over the Telephone, by Fax or via Email.

Madonna’s Biggest Shanghai Surprise Fan Needed!
Posted: 01 December 2006

DVD producer Christina has contacted madonnalicious for help from fans in the production of a special edition DVD of Shanghai Surprise:

I am producing the DVD extras for the special edition of 'Shanghai Surprise' and need Madonna’s biggest fan to do an audio commentary on the film. Is anyone a fan club president? Or an expert?
You must live in Los Angeles, or be willing to come to Los Angeles on your own. This needs to be done within the next month.
Please let me know if you are interested, a fan of this film, and available!

Update (05 December 2006): Christina now has enough fans to work with on this project - thanks to everyone who emailed her!
