The Ritchie's buy second London home
Posted: 27 January 2006 - From FemaleFirst.co.uk - thanks to Mo

Madonna has splashed out £900,000 on a second London home - so she can move in even more staff.
The pop diva’s new mews property is at the end of the garden of her plush Mayfair mansion.
The star - who also owns an estate in the English countryside and homes in Los Angeles, New York and Miami - already owns the property adjacent to her new house.
One of the singer’s neighbours told Britain’s The Sun newspaper: 'She loves her home in London but has always wanted more space. Properties here often aren’t as big as the enormous places you can get in Los Angeles.'
'She had been after the mews house next door for a couple of years. She asked the banking consultant neighbour who owned it if he was prepared to sell and eventually he agreed.'
The source added: 'Madonna likes the added security she will have owning the house next door. She has had big security problems in the past.'
'She plans to move in more of her staff next door now and she said she could do with the extra office space.'

More new tour rumours
Posted: 26 January 2006 - From Yahoo! Music

According to unsubstantiated claims appearing online, the pop superstar will play shows throughout June and July in America, including five dates at Shea Stadium in New York City. The news comes amid industry reports that promotional king-pin Arthur Fogel has been signed for the live follow-up to last year's 'Re-Invention' tour.
Fogel, who put together the 'Re-Invention' jaunt and the 2001 'Drowned World' tour, is said to be fronting the 2006 outing, which will promote last year's 'Confessions On A Dance Floor' album, reports Billboard.
The tour, which is set to commence in America, apparently spans the globe, concluding with shows in Australia in mid to late September.

Madonna attends Jean-Paul Gaultier fashion show
Posted: 26 January 2006 - Thanks to Arnaud and JC

From Hello! Magazine:
Jean Paul Gaultier's most famous client Madonna dropped in fashionably late to his show in Paris. But the singer - who aided the designer's rise to fashion stardom by wearing the famous conical bra he created - could be forgiven her tardiness. So celebs and models alike waited patiently until proceedings started an hour behind schedule.
The 47-year-old performer seemed pensive as she took her seat in thigh-high boots and a black coat. Later, however, she was seen in animated discussions with flamenco idol, Joaquin Cortes, and fashionistas in the front row.

From Women's Wear Daily:
Madonna, absent from fashion’s front row for years, unleashed pandemonium at the couture shows here Wednesday afternoon when she arrived at Jean Paul Gaultier.
The paparazzi surged dangerously, with camera crews sneaking in between the rows to get footage of the pop superstar. Dressed all in black with wraparound sunglasses, Madonna told WWD, 'Gaultier is going to design the costumes for my next show. We are going to discuss the details tomorrow.'
Once her bodyguards cleared the runway, Madonna jumped from her seat to greet French photographer Jean-Baptiste Mondino before the show. As it turns out, the queen of pop is quite the polyglot, finding time to exchange a few words in Spanish with her front-row neighbor, flamenco dancer Joachim Cortez.

Max states into Madonna video
Posted: 25 January 2006 - From Eastbourne Today Via Yahoo! News

An In-Line skater has been hand-picked to star in pop star Madonna's new music video.
Max Freeman, has already been filmed to accompany Sorry, the second single from her album, Confessions On A Dance Floor.
Former Ratton and Sussex Downs College student Max went to London to take part in the shoot.
It is the first time he's been involved in a music video, but he's hoping it won't be the last.
'I had an audition before Christmas and got a call back last week telling me that I needed to be in London the following day,' he said.
'I was very excited as it was my first appearance in a pop video and I'd not done anything like it before.'
'I've been skating since I was 14 years old after becoming interested in it from going to the Skate on the seafront.'
'Although I was skating before the event, it gave me new ideas about tricks and it continued from there.'
'I've been lucky enough to take part in competitions around Europe and really enjoy it, but it's for pleasure and not to make money.'
The shooting of the video took place over two gruelling days of filming.
The first shoot started at 11am and finished at 1am, with the second starting at 8am and finishing at 1am.
The 20-year-old, of Shalfleet Close, also managed to speak to the normally very private superstar.
'Madonna was nice and we spoke for a bit,' he said. 'She was only on set for a fraction of the hours the rest of us were there for.'
'They shot the bits she needed to be in and then she went home.'
'The hours were long and it was hard work, but very enjoyable.'
Max hasn't yet seen the final version of the video and will be waiting like the rest of the pop star's fans for its release.
But he gave no secrets away about the theme.
He added, 'I know the lyrics off by heart now. I would love to do another video, but I'll have to wait and see what happens in the future.'

Madonna accepts Jovi's apology
Posted: 25 January 2006 - From contactmusic.com

Madonna has accepted Jon Bon Jovi's apology for criticising her parenting skills, but is still waiting for Sir Elton John to apologise for his regular attacks on her.
The Bon Jovi frontman slammed the Material Girl last year for bringing her children Lourdes and Rocco to public events.
After Madonna's spokeswoman denied the superstar had ever brought the kids to a film premiere, Bon Jovi apologised, saying, 'Let me apologise because I don't know the woman.'
In response to Bon Jovi's apology, Madonna's rep Liz Rosenberg tells the New York Daily News, 'Now that is a gentleman - unlike Elton John, whose favourite hobby is trashing Madonna.'
John hit the headlines in 2004 when he falsely accused Madonna of lip-syncing on her ReInvention World tour and berated her for failing to attend his pre-'wedding' bash before his civil partnership ceremony to David Furnish last month.

Madonna at the Grammys?
Posted: 24 January 2006 - From perezhilton.com - thanks to AVOIDTHECLICHE

By far the juiciest bit of info we've extracted from Sundance has nothing to do with the film festival. Instead, it is all about the woman that has changed the landscape of pop music and defined a generation, Madonna.
We have it on VERY GOOD AUTHORITY that her Madgesty is flying out to Los Angeles for the Grammy awards, and you know we're going to be all over that.
What more, M. is going to not only make an apperance at the show, but she will also make a cameo at our friends at Warner Bros.' official post-Grammy party.
PLUS, and this is where it gets very interesting. We also hear that Madonna's business partner, Guy Oseary, is throwing a Grammy after-party solely for the Queen of Pop.
Now, call us conspiracy theorists, but....if Madonna is not nominated for a Grammy (her brazilliant album didn't come out in time) and they are still throwing a party for her, that must mean only one thing: she is performing!

Liz Rosenberg defends The Ritchies
Posted: 24 January 2006 - From contactmusic.com

Pop superstar Madonna has angrily hit back at rumours her five-year marriage to Guy Ritchie is in trouble.
The Hung Up hitmaker, who uncharacteristically cancelled her performance at the NRJ Music Awards in Cannes, France, on Saturday, has been dogged by speculation about her relationship with the 37-year-old director in recent weeks.
The New York Daily News recently claimed, 'The couple have split but they're keeping it quiet.'
However, the singer's spokeswoman Liz Rosenberg insists their relationship is as strong as ever, revealing Ritchie and children Lourdes and Rocco last week visited Madonna on the London set of her new video Sorry.
She says, 'Guy came on the set to visit. Mr and Mrs Ritchie seemed comfortable and adoring of each other.'
'My sense is that they're quite a happy, content couple.'

More news on the Sorry video
Posted: 19 January 2006 - Thanks to Matt

A reporter from BBC Radio One had attended the Sorry video shoot and that the theme is apparently this major dance off between Madonna in one cage and another dancer in another cage. It is like a sequel to Hung Up.

Madonna's hair and style is exactly the same, but this time she's in a white leotard and clad in diamonds.

Dolce and Gabbana fashion party
Posted: 19 January 2006

madonnalicious visitor Jacopo attended the Dolce and Gabbana party at the Metropol, here is a report and picture:

The night inspiration was the seventies, but actually the real inspiration was Madonna and her latest trend.
A huge disco ball was in the middle of the club and the first song of the night was Hung Up (radio version and Stewart Price remix ). But the amazing part was the use of 15 dancers who were dressed up in the very style Madonna has been wearing recently. When Hung Up was played the crowed went wild!

Liz R on the Sorry video and a Grammy tease
Posted: 18 January 2006 - From the New York Daily Post

Friends are worried that the hardest-working woman in show business is whittling her body down to a stub.
'She looks way too thin,' one insider tells us. 'It's scary. Everyone around her is buzzing that she's working herself right into exhaustion.'
Even after breaking her collarbone and fracturing three ribs in a horseback-riding accident, the 47-year-old singer has stuck to a strict exercise routine. She's said to do between two and three hours a day of Ashtanga yoga and Pilates, plus swimming, weight training and cycling.
She says her husband, Guy Ritchie, expects nothing less.
'I wish I were comfortable enough to look zaftig,' Mrs. Ritchie recently told Elle magazine. 'But I choose men who like carved-out women, the can-you-run-for-the-bus kind of guy. I'm naturally inclined toward men like that.'
She's also been rehearsing like a dervish for the video for 'Sorry,' the second single off her hit album 'Confessions on a Dance Floor.'
Her tireless publicist, Liz Rosenberg, was in London yesterday for the video shoot.
'I'm about 40 feet away from her,' she told us, 'and she looks pretty hot to me.'
Rosenberg acknowledged that some recent paparazzi photos show her client looking less than rested.
'How would you look with 10-hour dance rehearsals?' she added. 'Maybe she's working harder than usual, but that's what you have to do before a video.'
The mother of two, who last week became the oldest person ever nominated for a best pop act BRIT Award, doesn't look like she's about to let up. We hear she's in talks to do a show-stopping number at next month's Grammys.
Rosenberg would say only, 'I've heard rumors to that effect.'

Sorry single cover story
Posted: 17 January 2006 - Thanks to Romina

At last the official cover for Madonna's next single has been revealed by Warner Netherlands. There is also an interesting story behind the photograph used:

Warner Netherlands has revealed the cover picture for the Sorry single. We at Mad-Eyes can now confirm that we were contacted by Madonna's management in December, concerning this single cover. After seeing our pictures from the G.A.Y. gig, made by Mad-Eyes photographer Marcin Kokowski, they expressed intrest in using one of them for the single artwork. As you can see in the result, they did indeed!
Giovanni Bianco reworked the picture, changing the hair colour to red, like he did for the album cover. Warner asked us not to break the news yet, but now Warner Netherlands has revealed the final cover through the Dutch fanclub MadonnaNed.

Confessions.... all over store
Posted: 12 January 2006

In madonnalicious' third and final installment, here are the Madonna Confessions On A Dance Floor tracks that you might hear when you next go shopping:

From Brian:
Boots superstore in Oxford Street (Sedley Place), London, UK have seemed to have the ENTIRE Confessions On A Dance Floor album played on a near constant loop ever since it was released!

From Chris:
Just to let you guys know, I put madonna's 'Sorry' on CB2's January mix and 'Future Lovers' on our February mix to play instore. The CB2 stores are a new concept from the popular american Crate and Barrel home furnishings company.

From Eric:
I work in California at Jamba Juice and I'm pleased to announce that our January CD has not only one, but two Madonna songs! We're playing the radio version of 'Hung Up' and the unreleased song, 'Super Pop'. I was very surprised and happy to hear 'Super Pop', and the customers seem to enjoy the song because of its disco vibe.

From John:
Armani Exchange on Union Street in San Francisco is playing Jump, Get Together, and Let It Will Be. Last month, they played Hung Up.

From M:
I work for M-A-C Cosmetics in Neiman Marcus in Dallas and we're constantly playing 'Confessions On A Dance Floor' because we get to pick what we want to listen to. However, our regional manager sends us a CD to play on themed days on Saturday and this time it had, 'Hung Up', 'Sorry' and 'Dress You Up' (always is a favourite). Also the Armani Make Up area is corporate and they have to play what they are told to play and but 'Isaac' gets a lot of play there and so does a mix of 'Get Together' which I have never heard before. Chanel also plays the entire album.

From Mariam:
I heard 'Let It Will Be' on the rotation at a Rave store in Seattle, Washington. They were really blasting it, as I was outside the store and could hear it! Very cool!

Elle's Dancing Queen
Posted: 11 January 2006 - From Elle.com

Since the release of Confessions on a Dance Floor - and its chart-topping hits - the ultimate style chameleon has been channeling her club-kid roots. Madonna showed off her new Disco 2000 look - bright leotards, sequin berets, and low-rise jeans from Prada’s new denim line for ELLE’s cover story.
Between shots she gravitated toward ’70s-inspired pieces including Sergio Rossi’s platform shoes and Neil Lane’s disco-ball earrings while her stylist, Arianne Phillips, revealed that when it comes to basics, big-name designers do the trick. Phillips identified Jeremy Scott’s new travel tote, Dolce & Gabbana’s shrunken leather jacket, and Viktor & Rolf’s playful takes on simple dresses and blouses as some of the Material Girl’s off-camera favorites. And Madonna’s must-have accessory? A pair of aviator shades to keep her forever cool in the limelight’s glare.

Madonna keeps in shape to keep up with her man
Posted: 10 January 2006 - From MTV.com

Part of the reason Madonna keeps in such good shape is that she's afraid of getting fat, she reveals in the February issue of Elle, on stands Thursday. 'I wish I were comfortable enough to look zaftig,' she told the mag, 'but I choose men who like carved-out women, the can-you-run-for-the-bus kind of guy. I'm naturally inclined toward men like that.'
The singer traces her desire to win men over back to her relationship with her father, who she said doesn't get excited about much of anything. 'A good part of my life was spent trying to wow him, to get his approval,' she said. Even so, she doesn't think her fame will help any man in her life, especially the big guy upstairs. 'In the big picture, it means very little,' Madonna said. 'At the end of my life, God doesn't give a sh--.'

Confessions.... tracks getting airplay in store
Posted: 09 January 2006

Following on from the news that Jump is being played as part of the US Old Navy store's Winter Mix, we now have more news about where you can hear Madonna's Confessions On A Dance Floor tracks in stores worldwide:

From Adam:
Madonna's Hung Up is now being played on this months mix at GAP stores in the UK. I work in the store and each time it is on we crank it up full blast, and all the staff and customers get real into it!

From Josh:
I do stock at Express, and thought I'd let you guys know that we had started playing our Holiday Mix Vol1 last month which happens to include 'Get Together' and 'Jump'. If that's not awesome enough, we'll be playing 'Sorry' for our Holiday Mix Vol2 begining next week. I think it's great becuase it exposes people to more of Madonna's great new album, and maybe boost sales.

From Octavio:
I currently work as a buyer for Abercrombie & Fitch stores and we have added Madonna's 'Let It Will Be' on this month's soundtrack. The store is very popular here in the states with the younger generations - so I think it is great to have this exposure.

From Vickster:
'Jump' is also being played in Monsoon stores in the UK. I was in the Winchester store last Thursday and it was on their soundtrack.

Further Sorry airplay news
Posted: 09 January 2006

From Angelo:
The local dance radio station in Toronto - Z103.5 - has been playing 'Sorry' for about 3 weeks now. It's on their daily charts and has remained a fixture ever since they started playing it. It's the album version and gets stopped right as 'Future Lovers' starts to fade in.

From Danielle:
'Sorry' has been all over Sirius satellite radio this weekend. 'Hung Up' is also still on heavy rotation on stations like The Beat and Sirius Hits.

From Jeff:
103.5 in Toronto has been playing Sorry for over a week now and last night it was at #2 on the Top Ten.

From Josué:
I am currently visiting my hometown of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. I was surprised to see how popular 'Hung Up' is here. It is massively played on the radio and in clubs, even mixes I've never heard before. I was also surprised to hear 'Sorry' already being played on the radio. In fact, when I mention 'Hung Up' people here refer to it as 'the old Madonna song'....'Sorry' is the new jam in the Caribbean!

From Michael:
Sorry was #2 on our local radio stations Suburban 5 at 5, in Melbourne, Australia. This is a countdown that counts down the most requested songs of the day. It was second to Hung Up which held the #1 position today. This was on Foxfm Melbournes #1 Hit radio station. You can vote for Sorry and Hung Up at www.fox.com.au

Rare Madonna footage at Keith Haring exhibit
Posted: 09 January 2006 - Thanks to Alessio, Boo (at MadonnaTribe) and cosmic_system

The Keith Haring Show exhibition at the La Triennale di Milano gallery in Italy features an installation video which contains a clip of Madonna singing Dress You Up at Keith Haring's birthday party at the Paradise Garage in 1984.

The exhibition runs until Sunday 29 January and more information about the exhibition and gallery can be found at www.triennale.it

Boo (from the MadonnaTribe forum) managed to capture this clip of Madonna and it can be downloaded at this link.

Here is madonnalicious visitor Alessio's view of the show:

I am writing you to let you and all the other Madonna maniacs know that I just came back from the Milan exposition of Keith Haring at the Triennale.
In there you can see some exclusive pictures of Madonna and Keith but what really shocked me was an exclusive video of Madonna performing LIVE Dress you Up at Keith Haring's Birthday!
I never knew of this performance and I was absolutely blown away. She wears a pink dress with the Ketih Haring drawings and she starts singing the song from a bed. The clip is only 1 minute long but it's GREAT!
The exposition is on until 29th of January and for those of you living in Italy it's worth a visit (and not just for Madonna!).

Hung Up proves it has staying power
Posted: 08 January 2006 - Thanks to Stuart

Hung Up is now in the UK Top 10 for a 9th consecutive week, this amazing song has set a new record.
No other Madonna single has stayed in the UK Top 10 for more consecutive weeks than Hung Up. The only other Madonna singles to notch up 9 consecutive weeks are Like A Virgin and Vogue. They both dropped out the Top 10 after 10 weeks so if Hung Up can hang on until next week it will claim the record for itself!

Let's get physical....
Posted: 04 January 2006

madonnalicious visitor ehm has sent in this great story about how Madonna is getting the people of Philadephia back into the groove:

I am a native of Philadelphia where I have been a successful dancer/singer and aerobic instructor. I am a dedicated fan of Madonna!
I teach aerobics at a local gym named The 12th St. Gym located in the heart of the city of Philadelphia. For the new year I decided to change the name of my class and spice it up a little. It is called Madonnalicous Cardio Groove.
The entire 1 hour aerobic class uses Madonna song's remixed by myself. So far it has been one of the most popular classes in the gym. And I also feel that I am helping getting the word out to people how great Confesions On A Dance Floor is!
Some of my students have told me that they were not sure if the should buy the CD, but after hearing it in my class they went out and bought it!

Madonna inspired to pimp her ride
Posted: 03 January 2006 - From Yahoo! News - thanks to Olivier

Pop superstar Madonna is such a fan MTV show Pimp My Ride she is planning to copy the car makeover concept for her new music video.
The thirty-minute show, which quickly became one of the music channel's most popular, sees a hip team of mechanics revamp ageing vehicles for young contestants.
And the Material Girl is keen to follow suit - by transforming a battered Ford Cortina into a classier set of wheels for next single Sorry, which will also feature a cameo appearance from the show's host DJ Tim Westwood.
A source tells The Sun, 'Madonna really loves the MTV show. She wanted to do a video with a rags-to-riches story, taking a battered old British banger and turning it into something special.'
'Her record company contacted the MTV producers behind Pimp My Ride and they came up with a storyboard and car for the video.'
The new single will reportedly be remixed by the Pet Shop Boys.

I was working as a cashier at a WalMart store....
Posted: 02 January 2006 - Picture from MadonnaTribe

On New Year's Eve WalMart stores across the US played Madonna's KoKo concert on all their TV monitors throughout the stores, madonnalicious visitor Fernando has this story to tell about the night:

My name is Fernando and I'm a senior in high school. As an after school job I am a cashier at Walmart. I was estastic to hear about the Madonna Walmart concert that would be airing on all the TV's throughout the store.
I was at my register, working with a customer, and that's when I heard the familiar melody of Hung Up. I looked up at the television screens and there she was dancing on stage in her purple gucci jacket! I yelped from all the excitement, scaring my customer half to death. I told her that my idol was on TV and she just looked at me like I was an idiot.
Luckily I had to take returns to the toys department and put them in their places. I took my time as I watched and listened to the entire concert. Madonna looked great, she looked like she was having tons of fun on stage and the audience was just going crazy! Man, I wish I was there!

Celeb of the year: Long may she reign
Posted: 01 January 2006 - From the Sunday Mirror's Sam Mann

She received my prestigious Celeb Of The Year award in 2004 and she's done it again. But we'd expect nothing less from the Queen of Pop. She's still every bit the true superstar and without doubt the master of re-invention.
Selling over 250 million albums during the span of her extraordinary two-decade career and after celebrating her 47th birthday in August, she proved she's a real action girl. She took a tumble off a horse breaking her collar bone, hand and cracking three ribs in the process, but has jumped straight back on again. Long may she reign.
