This dress cost more than the film!
Posted: 30 November 2005

madonnalicious was very lucky to attend the London premiere of I'm Going To Tell You A Secret last night at the Chelsea Cinema and here is a report from the night:

The Kings Road in Chelsea last night witnessed another case of Madonna-mania, fans with the all important premiere ticket and wristband queued one side of the street, fans without tickets watched and waited from the other side of the street.

A small red carpet and a battery of press photographers and TV crews awaited anyone who entered the cinema.

Thanks to Suedehead for the picture of the cinema.

Some lucky fans who had queued outside the cinema just to watch Madonna arrive found themselves being handed tickets and wristbands which allowed them in!

Once in the cinema fans also found they all had an I'm Going To Tell You A Secret goodie bag each, containing crisps, popcorn, sweets, chocolate and water.

Madonna and her guests had the back row of the cinema, and while we were waiting for her to arrive, we saw Stella McCartney, Sharleen Spiteri, Tracey Emin, Guy Oseary and Stuart Price all arrive and take their seats.

When Madonna arrived with Jonas Akerlund, all the audience stood and cheered, they made their way to the front of the cinema and introduced the film.

Madonna laughed when she said her dress probably cost more than the film!

She said that editing this film was very traumatic and that they all ended up with more wisdom and less hair, but then said Well actually I pulled out Jonas' hair instead! He laughed and motioned to his very long hair!

Madonna then walked up through the auditorium towards her seat where Guy was waiting, fans stood and cheered and Madonna shook a few hands.

Madonna took her place next to Guy in the back row, and then tucked into the large basket containing champagne and cans of lager that had been placed by their seats earlier.

The couple stayed for the entire film and left to applause again at the end of the screening with their friends.

Premiere report: You guys are crazy but I love you
Posted: 30 November 2005 - Thanks to John

The fans who had got their tickets courtesy of queuing all those hours to get into the Koko gig inevitably queued up at the cinema as soon as they picked up their tickets. But once we got inside found that the first five rows had been cordoned off for us anyway!
And we all got 'goodie bags' with an I'm Gonna Tell You A Secret branding, stuffed full of snacks to enjoy during the movie.
Then it was time for celeb spotting. Mel C, Jo Whiley, Sharleen Spiteri, Donna Air, Tracy Emin, Stella McCartney and Gwyneth Paltrow all came in before Madonna herself arrived with Jonas Akerlund.
She was wearing a black chiffon style dress with diamante trim and, as with all recent appearances, looked stunning. She introduced the movie, speaking about the difficulties she and Jonas had editing down all the hours of footage, which had proved a 'traumatic experience'. 'And like all traumatic experiences, we all ended up with more wisdom and less hair,' she added.
She then turned to the fans and said she knew that the people who had camped out to see her at Koko were in the audience. 'Without you guys, I wouldn't be where I am today. You guys are crazy but I love you.'
She also revealed that she had hoped the premiere could have been held in a West End cinema and said (perhaps jokingly) that the only reason she went to the Harry Potter premiere a few weeks ago was to try to land a West End slot for herself but that she was happy that it was in Chelsea instead.
There were lots of other thank-yous to Warner Brothers, Channel Four and her management before she sat down. One of the fans shouted 'Keep doing it Madonna because we love you', just as the lights went down. She then stayed for the whole film, which is quite unusual for stars who attend premieres of their own films (they often escape as soon as the lights go down).

Madonna talks about her new video and more
Posted: 30 November 2005 - From the NY Post Liz Smith Column

'Me and Elvis? Are you kidding?! I'm gonna tell my dad. Maybe that will impress him.'
That was Madonna's reaction when we told the Queen of Pop that she has now tied the King of Rock 'n' Roll with the most top-10 singles ever — 36 each. (Her latest being the crazily infectious 'Hung Up.') M had not heard the news yet. I guess she really does stay away from media! And at 47, touchingly, she still looks for Daddy's approval. The star called from London. I wanted her reaction to 'Confessions on a Dance Floor' reaching No. 1 status in 25 countries, including the good old United States of America.
'It was my husband, Guy, who told me the album was No. 1 in America. I was shocked, stunned, happy. I said, 'We have to celebrate.' So we opened a bottle of champagne — not something I usually do, though I probably should do more of that - I had a glass, and then I sat and cried for 20 minutes. Really. So many conflicting emotions, but basically tears of joy. Don't let anybody tell you commercial success doesn't matter.'
M ('everybody calls me M now, I never hear my own name!') is busy planning her next video for the second single, 'Sorry.' She says, 'I want it to be a sequel to the 'Hung Up' video - what happens after she dances the night away because her boyfriend is so unavailable.' And M is thinking about her 'Confessions' concert tour, which might include smaller venues 'where I can hear myself singing; I can see the faces!'
Madonna also wants to build a film around her current troupe of dancers, which includes the phenomenally talented Cloud and Hypnosis. 'They are not just dancers. They're filmmakers and artists. Creative cyclones. I adore them.' We spoke of broken bones - I recently shattered a wrist, she quite a few more — and she said it was terribly difficult coming back from that, to dance again. 'Your 46th comeback!' I joked. She laughed, 'Yes, I've lost track of how many times I've been written off.' She paused. 'Maybe that's the reason I cried when I heard about the record. Here's a big scoop. We're human, too.'

Fans wanted for help with Madonna art project
Posted: 28 November 2005

madonnalicious visitor Alyssa is an advanced computer graphics art student and would like fellow Madonna fans to help her complete this very interesting project:

I am a student in an advanced computer graphics course, and I've also been a devoted Madonna fan and visitor of madonnalicious.com for quite some time now.
I am in the middle of a project for my course. Inspired by Madonna’s new Confessions On a Dance Floor album, I decided to go out and about around town with the new CD, taking pictures of fans holding this precious gem.
I’ve planned on editing all these photos with a photo-editing program, and then turning it into a gigantic mosaic of Madonna from this lovely era!
I like the idea of taking hundreds of fans and putting all their photos together to make one big picture of Madonna, but I cannot get enough photos by simply going around town. I was wondering if you could post this on your site when you get the chance so all Madonna fans can participate and be a part of my mosaic! It would really mean a lot to me!

Any fans interested in helping Alyssa out can email a photograph of themselves holding their CD, along with their name to mymadonnamosaic@aol.com

Confessions of Madonna: Screen captures
Posted: 27 November 2005

Here are some screen captures from the Channel 4 interview, Confessions Of Madonna, by Dermot O'Leary which aired in the UK tonight.

I'd love to direct, says Madonna
Posted: 27 November 2005 - From BBC Online

Madonna has revealed that the shooting of the latest documentary about her has made her want to follow film director husband Guy Ritchie behind the camera.
'I would love to direct,' she said. 'I felt very inspired by making this movie and I learned a lot about film-making.'
'I would like to do it on my own next time,' continued the singer, whose film I'm Going to Tell You a Secret will be shown on Channel 4 on 1 December.
Her latest album, Confessions on a Dance Floor, is top of the UK charts.
Madonna's comments are part of an interview due to be screened on Channel 4.
In the programme, conducted by TV presenter Dermot O'Leary, the mother of two speaks proudly about her nine-year-old daughter Lourdes and five-year-old son, Rocco.
Viewers will see her describe Lourdes as 'very musical'.
'She sings quite well and she's an incredible ballerina,' she says.
Earlier this month Madonna attended the London premiere of the new Harry Potter film with Lourdes, also known as Lola.
There, she revealed, her daughter was left speechless after a chance encounter with one of its stars, Emma Watson.
'In the middle of the movie she had to go to the bathroom,' she told O'Leary.
'Hermione was in there washing her hands and Lola's jaw hit the ground.'
But Madonna refused to discuss her recent riding accident, which left her with a broken collarbone and three cracked ribs.
'I don't want to go there - I get flashbacks,' she said.
'I'm just starting to feel better.'

A reminder for UK fans that this interview airs tonight on Channel 4 at 11:05pm.

Madonna is music to Warner
Posted: 27 November 2005 - From the Telegraph.co.uk

Madonna has become the first artist to have a simultaneous number one hit across Europe in every music format: single, album, download single and mobile phone ringtone.
The news, based on charts for Europe as a whole, points not only to the popularity of her single, Hung Up, and her album, Confessions on a Dance Floor, but also to the growing importance of new electronic media.
Warner Music, the US group behind Madonna, is placing more and more emphasis on so-called digital revenues from internet downloads and ringtones. Its most recent results show that digital revenues grew to $44m (£27m) in the three months to the end of June, accounting for 6 per cent of revenues, and up by 26 per cent on the previous quarter.

From Fabio*Z*:
I am from Malta, a little island south of Sicily and even here Madonna's Hung Up single is at number one of the Top 40 chart of the main and most popular radio station in Malta, FM89.7 Bay Radio.

Elton inspired by Madonna
Posted: 27 November 2005 - From Yahoo! Entertainment News

Veteran British singer Sir Elton John was inspired by Madonna to keep his upcoming marriage to long term love David Furnish a private ceremony.
The Sacrifice hitmaker, who will wed film producer Furnish on 21 December, has turned down numerous lucrative offers to publicise the wedding - just as Madonna and her film director husband Guy Ritchie did when they exchanged nuptials in 2000. John tells Attitude, 'Madonna got it absolutely right when she got married. Absolutely spot on. Nobody has seen one photograph of that day - and that's exactly the way it should be.'

Madonna matches Elvis' US chart record
Posted: 25 November 2005 - From Billboard - thanks to Robin

By moving up 14-7 on The Billboard Hot 100, Madonna's 'Hung Up' (Warner Bros.) generates a great deal of chart news this week. The most important feat is matching Elvis Presley's 36 top 10 hits, the most for any artist in the rock era.

Madonna racked up that tally in 21 years, five months and three weeks, counting back to the week that 'Borderline' peaked in the top 10. Presley scored his 36 top 10 hits in 16 and a half years, from the first week in 1956 that 'Heartbreak Hotel' made the top 10 of the Best Sellers in Stores chart until the week in 1972 when 'Burning Love' entered the top 10.

Chart news and views
Posted: 25 November 2005

From Danny:
Madonna reached number one in the flemish single chart with the song Hung Up (last week #2) and the album Confessions on a dancefloor also reached number one in the flemish album charts.
In the french part of Belgium Hung Up is still number one (for his second week) in the single charts and in the album Charts, Confessions On A Dance Floor also reached the number one position.
For both the album charts Madonna already has Gold for the sales!

From Nico:
For the second week Madonna's Hung Up is at the number one in Holland. Confessions On A Dance Floor also debuted at number one here in Holland.

From Thomas:
Confessions On A Dance Floor debuted at #1 this week on the official Danish album sales chart. It has sold gold which means that it has sold at least 20,000 copies. The exact number can be anywhere between 20,000 (gold) and 40,000 (platinum).

From Tore:
The first ever official download chart top 20 saw the light of day this week in Norway. And Madonna is of course #1 here too with 'Hung up', as she is on the official singles chart. But even the forthcoming single 'Sorry' enters the download chart at #16. So the Madonna fever has hit the winter frozen Norwegians once again with full strength :)

Hey Mr DJ....how Madonna got the party started
Posted: 25 November 2005

Here's great report about how Madonna's Hung Up got the party started from madonnalicious visitor Phil:

I DJ'd at a club last night and it was about 11:30pm and STILL no one was on the dance floor. There was a winter storm here last night so people were crowding the room warming up with drinks and talking. So my co-DJ for the night decided it was time to get these people to dance. He blasted out Hung Up and there was a stampede for the dance floor! People ran to the front and danced their arses off - this also led into a few hours of dancing thanks to Madonna getting it started!

Madonna has sent this Thanksgiving message to her fans via her official website:

On the eve of Thanksgiving, I have many blessings for which I am thankful. High on the list are you, my fans, whose devotion and passion have not gone unnoticed.
Although my career has been filled with many highs, I do not take having a Number One album for granted. Confessions On A Dance Floor was a joy to make but having it debuted at No. 1 all over the world brings that joy to a whole new level.
You may be proud of me but trust me, I could not be more proud and grateful to all of you for your continuous loyalty and support. I wish you all a beautiful Thanksgiving and I give thanks to each and every one of you.

Love, Madonna

Madonna's Confessions Gobbled Up
Posted: 24 November 2005 - From Yahoo! - thanks to John

As is her wont, Madonna will be stuffing plenty of stockings this holiday season. The Material Girl scored her third consecutive chart-topper with Confessions on a Dancefloor, selling 350,000 copies in the U.S. for the week ended Sunday, according to Nielsen SoundScan figures.
Thanks to a worldwide marketing blitz backed by MTV, the disc opened at number one in 25 countries, including the U.K., Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Japan, Sweden, Australia and despite protests over her invocation of a rabbi in the Kabbalah-inspired track 'Isaac' - Israel. All told, Confessions moved 4 million copies worldwide, per Warner Bros. Records.
The 47-year-old superstar's previous album, American Life, topped the charts in '03 with a substantially fewer 241,000 copies, and the disc became her first not to yield any Top 10 radio hits. Consequently, Madonna went back to her dance pop roots with Confessions and landed another huge radio hit with the ABBA-sampling 'Hung Up,' which also topped the singles chart this week.

BBC Children In Need backstage picture
Posted: 23 November 2005

This wonderful picture of Madonna hugging the BBC's Children In Need mascot Pudsey Bear was published in the latest edition of UK magazine OK! (29 November issue 497) - the magazine also had a quick chat with Madonna backstage.

'Once you have kids, you understand the vulnerability of children and you start freaking out when you hear about some kid going through some kind of suffering or being abused or not having food,' she confided.

'Any organisation that is helping children just has me, and when I was asked to lend a helping hand to Children In Need at Live 8, I jumped at the chance. You see, children are going to grow up one day and we need to look after them and give them guidance abd love. Then the world will be a better place when they grow up.'

When asked if she enjoyed meeting Children In Need's very own Pudsey, she joked: 'I loved meeting him. He's a British institution and I'm hoping to become one too. And I just totally loved Pudsey's bandanna. It's very fashionable, you know.'

Madonna to develop soap opera for Logo
Posted: 23 November 2005 - From Filmstew.com By Mark Umbach - thanks to dboys18

In a key get for the gay and lesbian network, Madonna will be developing a primetime soap for Logo.
It was only a matter of time before a Melrose Place-like series came to Logo - MTV Networks' channel aimed at the gay and lesbian audience - and now gay icon Madonna may be the one catalyzing the process.
According to Daily Variety, Madonna's Maverick TV is working with Logo to create a nighttime soap tentatively titled San Rafael, which is currently in the early stages of development at the network.
Created by Christian McLaughlin and Valerie Ahern, San Rafael will follow the lives, loves and fights of a group of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered residents sharing an apartment complex.
Maverick TV's Michael Rosenberg will executive produce the new series with the company's Guy Oseary. Maverick TV, a division of Madonna and Oseary's Maverick Films, is also developing One Giant Leap: Neil Armstrong's Stellar American Journey, a mini for Fox TV Studios.

Madonna Euphoria at the Astoria
Posted: 22 November 2005 - Thanks to Hassan

Brimming with utter euphoria and hysteria, the Astoria became the centre of the world for many fans Saturday night; the Queen was due to arrive just past midnight.
Following last week’s 'warmup' gig at Koko (formally known as Camden Palace) Madonna decided to grace the stage at club G-A-Y in London, as a special, appreciative nod to her most loyal and faithful fans: the queers.
For those obsessed and devoted enough to queue up from the early morning to seize a holy purple wristband, the sweat and tears were all worth it to see the diva of all divas....

Madonna predicted to top the US album chart
Posted: 22 November 2005 - From HitsDailyDouble.com - thanks to Alex

It's been a close race all week between the ladies, but it looks like age and experience trumps all, as Warner Bros.’ Madonna edges her way to the top of tomorrow's chart.
Our happy number-crunchers here at HITS predict that Maddy, now a respected elder stateswoman amongst the divas, will sell 340k, beating out American Idol winner Carrie Underwood’s Arista/RMG debut release, which our crunchers predict will sell 300 to 310k, putting her way above the predicted #3 winner - Mariah Carey, who should sell between 175 and 180k copies of a new expanded version (complete with DVD) of her The Emancipation of Mimi.

Madonna UK chart facts and figures
Posted: 22 November 2005 - From Music Week - thanks to Sail

Madonna has scored a single and album at the top of the charts three times now.
Spending three weeks simultaneously number one in 1986 with single Papa Don’t Preach and album True Blue, Two weeks in 1989 with the Like A Prayer single and album, and completing her hat trick this week with Hung Up remaining atop the singles chart, while Confessions On A Dancefloor storms to the top of the album chart with first week sales of 217,610.
G4, Oasis, Coldplay, Robbie Williams and Westlife have all had bigger first weeks in 2005 but Confessions On A Dancefloor is Madonna’s first album ever to open with sales of more than 200,000, beating her previous best first week of 151,891, set by Music in 2000. Her most recent number one album, American Life, sold just 65,013 when it debuted in pole position in 2003.
Confessions On A Dancefloor is Madonna’s ninth number one album in total, the only solo artist with more being Elvis Presley, with 10, while the next highest tally for a female solo artist is five for Celine Dion.
Madonna first topped the album chart on 21 September 1985, with Like A Virgin, so Confessions On A Dancefloor extends her span of number ones to more than 20 years - good, but not good enough to take the record for a female solo artist from Barbra Streisand, who span is nearly 23 years.

G-A-Y: I made this record for you f*ckers!
Posted: 20 November 2005

Last night at the Astoria Theatre in London Madonna graced the stage at the Astoria for G-A-Y and put on one of her most outstanding live shows....ever.

madonnalicious was lucky enough to be there and here is our report of the show:

The Astoria is packed out with a good crowd of fans, all waiting for the Queen Of Pop to arrive. For first-timers at the venue, most cannot believe how small it is and how close they will be to Madonna.

As the crowd wait for the show to start, fans were treated to a selection of Madonna's hits....the first line of Who's That Girl? is played and then dramatically stops....the band arrives on stage and the music starts....Madonna is about to appear on stage (and on time no less!). The crowd starts chanting MA-DONN-A, MA-DONN-A and stamping their feet with encouragement from Steve the drummer.

Thanks to Giuseppe for the above pictures of Madonna's entrance.

The background video screens reveal Madonna in a glitter ball, wearing shocking pink hotpants and a pink leather jacket, she walks downstage and with her dancers launches into an energetic version of Hung Up. She looks fantastically fit tonight.

During the song she takes off her sunglasses and throws them into the crowd!

After the song she talks to the crowd, sounding very American, telling fans that the Camden Palace (KoKo) concert was just a warm-up for this show, this show is going to kick the Camden Palace show's arse!

She asks the crowd if they like her new record, YES! all the fans scream, then she says 'Good, I made that record for you f*ckers!'

By now the leather jacket was off and so was the pink top, revealing just a pink vintage leotard.

Madonna was very chatty and cheeky with the crowd last night, she complained that she was oxygen deprived and that we were all stealing her oxygen.

The Astoria was very hot and Madonna joked: 'Aren't you guys hot! I should have worn my bathing suit, oh wait....I did!'

Teasing fans, she said she wouldn't start her next song until all the front row took their shirts off, of course they complied but started throwing the shirts onstage to which Madonna replied: 'No, no don't throw them at me, they're a bit smelly!'

Her performances of Get Together and I Love New York were also energetic, she seemed to be getting such a buzz off the crowd who were loving every moment of this.

Introducing I Love New York she said: 'I apologize about the title of the next song. You all know I live here now and I love the UK, and I Love New York is just a figure of speech. I f*cking love London! Because the best fans are here in London!'

Thanks to Neil from www.tragicyetdignified.blogspot.com for the above pictures.

Her performance of Let It Will Be was one of the highlights of the night, with fantastic electronic images flashing on the catwalk, Madonna writhed and gave her all in this song, the fans in the front row could even reach out and touch her.

Somehow some water had got onto the catwalk, so Madonna spoke to the crowd: 'Who threw water on my stage? Do you want me to hurt myself? Who did it? Was it you? Put out your hand! (A fan puts out his hand, and she playfully slaps it). You are naughty!'

The comes the final song Everybody, the dancers return and balloons are released, unfortunately there are a too many balloons and Madonna and her dancers get engulfed in them, leaving the dancers (and Madonna) trying to kick them off stage.

Just as the fans think the show is over....suddenly she starts singing Jump, the crowd finally go insane and start jumping to the song, it is a fantastic surprise and a great finish....with that she is gone, with a quiet 'Thank you' from Madonna once she is off-stage.

Madonna breaks McCartney Top 10 record
Posted: 19 November 2005 - From Everyhit.com - thanks to Ches

Madonna has entered the UK singles chart at Number 1 with 'Hung Up.' In doing so, she has secured her 54th Top 10 hit and overtaken Paul McCartney - including his tally with The Beatles, Wings and various other guises. Though both artists trail somewhat behind Elvis' 76 and Cliff's 65 Top 10 hits, they are an elite group; no other artists have had 50 or more Top 10 hits.

Other significant Madonna chart facts....

Longest span of Number 1 singles for a female solo artist:
In hitting number one this week, Madonna also breaks a record hitherto held by Kylie Minogue. Madonna's chart-toppers now span 20 Years, 3 Months, 16 Days (from 'Into The Groove', 3rd Aug 1985 to 'Hung Up', 19th Nov 2005 - ie. a total span of 1059 weeks).
Kylie Minogue is on 15 Years, 9 Months, and 23 Days (ie. 825 weeks from 'I Should Be So Lucky', 23rd Jan 1988 to 'Slow'; 15th Nov 2003).

Most Top 40 hits for a female solo artist:
Madonna stretches her lead here too. 'Hung Up' is her 59th Top 40 hit, pulling away from the previous record holder, Dina Ross (56 hits) - though Ross also has nine uncredited Top 40 hits with the Supremes and Madonna has one with Nick Kamen.

Most weeks spent on The Top 40 by a female solo artist:
This is Madonna's 437th week on the Top 40 - easily more than any other female artist (though a way behind Elvis' record of 1041!)

Most number 1's by a female solo artist:
Only six acts in chart history have got into double figures with their tally of chart-toppers. Madonna is the only woman to do so, 'Hung Up' being her 11th number one.
The other artists are Elvis Presley (21), The Beatles (17), Cliff Richard (14), Westlife (13) and The Shadows (11).

Female solo artist with most weeks at Number 1:
This is Madonna's 22nd week at the top; more than any other solo woman (though a way behind Elvis' 80 weeks and The Beatles 69 weeks).

Writer wins Madonna plagiarism case
Posted: 18 November 2005 - From PA Via Yahoo!

A little-known Belgian songwriter has won a plagiarism case against Madonna.
A local court subsequently banned the megastar's song Frozen from sale or broadcast in the country.
'The judge has ruled Madonna must withdraw from sales all remaining disks, and orders that TV and radio can no longer play Frozen,' property rights lawyer Victor-Vincent Dehin told VRT television.
Dehin represented the songwriter Salvatore Acquaviva. No damages were set.
Madonna's record companies risk a fine if they fail to pull the song within 15 days, Belgian media reports said.
Acquaviva said Madonna's 1998 hit resembled the French-language song he wrote in 1993 entitled Ma vie fout le camp.
Lawyers representing Madonna's record companies have denied the accusation. The London-based singer can appeal the ruling.

Madge sees ray of light in Bush's woes
Posted: 17 November 2005 - From New York Daily News/Rush and Molloy

Even today, Madonna feels the pain. No, we're not talking about her horseback-riding accident, but rather the reelection of President Bush.
'I was just frigging devastated,' she recalls. 'It was a real sad day. I don't get how people can have all these facts and still turn away from them.' But FEMA's failure in New Orleans gives her hope that voters now see him as nakedly as, say, she was in her 1992 book, 'Sex.' She tells Rolling Stone: '9/11 was too ambiguous. You couldn't prove how the government was somehow in on the deal....You could say, 'Oh, that's just Michael Moore'....New Orleans was undeniable irresponsibility.'
She's more charitable toward Tom Cruise. '(Tom and I are) both in the take-a-lot-of-sh*t club together,' says Her Madgesty, who feels they're both persecuted for their fringe faiths.
'I don't really know what Scientology is,' says the dedicated kabbalist. 'But I don't think anybody else knows, either. They need to shut the (bleep) up.'
She also forgives husband Guy Ritchie for the behavior he displays in her documentary 'I'm Going to Tell You a Secret,' in which we see him slapping her behind, missing her concerts and boring her with his pub songs.
'I feel like we are sort of the Honeymooners, only I'm the Jackie Gleason character,' she tells interviewer Neil Strauss. 'Obviously, he irritates me on a significant basis, as everyone's significant other does.'
Meanwhile, remember last month when Jon Bon Jovi scolded Madonna for exposing her kids to the prying media at movie openings? Madonna's rep Liz Rosenberg told us at the time, 'Madonna has never brought her children to a film premiere.'
So what were Madge and daughter Lourdes doing at the recent London premiere of 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire'? Rosenberg argues that it was Lourdes' first premiere, 'as far as I know,' and that she's 'a huge Harry Potter fan.'
She adds that Madonna even got a letter from pediatric legend Dr. Benjamin Spock's widow, Mary, 'applauding (her) for the wonderful way she raises her children. So there, Mr. Bon Jovi.'

Fans say 'It’s all about the material, girl'
Posted: 17 November 2005 - Thanks to Jimmy and Pablo

It is looking like a very close contest between Madonna and Carrie Underwood for the top spot on the US album chart according to this report from HitsDailyDouble:

A pair of potentially big records from female singers from different generations streeted yesterday, with Madonna holding a slight lead over Carrie Underwood in the early going. Right now, the Material Girl’s Warner Bros. album is looking like 325k-350k, while the J/RMG debut from the 2005 American Idol winner is trending at 300k-325k.
That said, let us not forget that the CMA (Country Music) Awards were telecast last night, with Underwood singing her current Country hit, 'Jesus, Take the Wheel,' and the phenomenon that industryites have dubbed 'the CMA factor' makes this race too close to call, considering said factor could easily sweep young Carrie to 350k or beyond.

Posted: 16 November 2005 - From CNN.com

Madonna turned back the years with a one-off gig for just hundreds of fans at the same spot where she first performed in Britain 22 years ago.
The 47-year-old star launched her new album, 'Confessions On A Dance Floor,' in front of 1,500 people at London's Koko Club.
The undersize venue - formerly known as the Camden Palace - was where Madonna gave her first live UK performance in June 1983.
Fans camped out for more than 24 hours to get into the club - once an old-style theatre played by Charlie Chaplin and where the BBC, in the 1950s, recorded the Goon Show. Most of the crowd consisted of contest winners.
When she last performed at the north London venue - two miles from London's center - she was an unknown singer who had just released the underground U.S. club hit 'Everybody.'
In 2005 the gig by the woman dubbed 'Queen of Pop' was described by British media 'the hottest ticket in town.' Of the 1,500-strong audience, 200 had queued overnight in freezing temperatures to bag the last batch of free tickets.
British newspapers admitted to being star-struck.
'She is still the Dancing Queen - live and at her glittering best,' said the Times.
'Pelvic thrusts, high kicks....they went wild,' said the Daily Mail calling the show 'noisy, panting and mildly pornographic.'
'Never let it be said Madonna doesn't work for her millions,' said The Guardian, adding that the star 'is certainly one of the few forty something women on earth who could stand onstage playing air guitar.'
Four of Madonna's songs were tracks from the new album, including her current and 11th number one hit 'Hung Up.'
The fifth was 'Everybody' - the song that started it all.
She told the audience: 'The last time I played Camden Palace was 22 years ago. It was my first show in London and I've got to tell you it's so f...ing great to be back.'
Among the crowd were celebrities including Stella McCartney, Bob Geldof and his daughter Peaches, and Pet Shop Boy Neil Tennant.
The club was a far cry from the huge venues Madonna normally plays - her last London performance was at Live 8 in the capital's Hyde Park before tens of thousands.
After arriving on stage 40 minutes late, Madonna emerged from a giant glitter ball to sing the first number dressed in an all-purple ensemble of jacket, velvet pedal pushers and knee-high boots.
She took off her jacket to reveal a tight vest and when one fan threw his shirt at the stage she remonstrated: "Don't throw your clothes at me - I took my shirt off, I don't want to put another one on.'
'Confessions on a Dance Floor' is a return to Madonna's disco roots and she performed with a four-piece band dressed in Saturday Night Fever-style white suits. Introducing her last song, 'Everybody,' she referred to the riding accident three months ago when she suffered three cracked ribs, telling the crowd: 'I feel like I'm really out of shape right now, I don't like falling off horses, so I'm going to do one more song.'
One of the new songs she performed was 'I Love New York' - a title which prompted her to apologize to the audience at the north London club. She explained: 'This next song is called 'I Love New York.' But I love London too - if I didn't, why do you think I'd live here? I wrote a song about New York because New York for me was about survival. It is more a state of mind than a place.'
And she added: 'I want to thank all of my fans who camped out all night in the freezing cold so they could see me. That's what I'm talking about. That's a New York state of mind.'
The gig was broadcast live on the Internet to a worldwide audience.
British media were quick to point out that the performance was also a chance for Madonna to prove she could sing live.
Elton John sparked a war of words at the Q Awards when he accused her of lip-synching during her last tour - a charge she denies.
According to The Guardian, this was no place to find the answer. Wrote its reviewer: 'A guttural scream in the middle of 'I Love New York' certainly suggests that her microphone is switched on, but, in reality, no one comes to see Madonna in a venue this small in order to marvel at her vocal prowess.'

More US TV interviews this Friday
Posted: 15 November 2005 - From the New York Post/Liz Smith

Madonna's first single, 'Hung Up' from 'Confessions On A Dance Floor,' is a No. 1 smash all over the world, which bodes well for the album itself, in stores now. The Queen of Pop has been triumphant in every European appearance where she promotes the CD. Riots, fainting fans, desperate photographers. Just like the good old days.
Today AOL/Network Live is airing Webcasts of M's mini-concert appearance at London's Koko, and Friday 'Good Morning America' and 'Primetime' offer an in-depth interview with the singer, shot in her N.Y.C. apartment. Hard to believe it's been 21 years since I looked at the cover of Time magazine and asked, 'Who's that girl?'

Madonna to return to debut club
Posted: 15 November 2005 - From BBC News Online

Madonna is set to play live back at the London club where she first wowed British fans 22 years ago.
The self-styled Queen of Pop will play five songs at the Koko Club - formerly the Camden Palace - where she gave her first live UK performance in 1983.
The songs, taken from her new album Confessions On A Dance Floor, mark a return to the singer's disco roots.
She will appear before an invited audience of 1,500 fans, made up mainly of competition winners.
When Madonna made her debut at the club she was an unknown singer who had just released the underground US club hit Everybody.
Now, with her 11th UK number one Hung Up, the 47-year-old is the world's biggest female artist, selling more than 200 million albums.
The audience will be made up of competition winners from BBC Radio 1 but fans will still be able to log-on to the mini concert, which will be broadcast live on the internet.
