Sunday 03 September - Amsterdam Arena

From Alan:
Michael I met you at Madonna’s first Amsterdam show last night in the queue and we spent the whole concert together with my best friend, Andrew. It’s Alan here from Scotland - you were the first one I confessed too! I want to keep in contact with you, but was too nervous to give you my e-mail address, so here it is acrone@hotmail.co.uk; I pray that we connect again. I hope that you enjoy tonight’s second show and that you get an even better view of the amazing Live To Tell part, which was our favourite! With light and blessings, Alan x

From Amsterdam Mayday:
After a late soundcheck and rehearsels, the show started late but not only that, lots of things went wrong.
Her Madgesty's Lucky Star cape didn't work. The Jump stage failed to come down on time. Dancesteps were missed and soundwise it failed on a few points.
However, the show was great and she rocked amsterdam with a total of spectators of 60,000 this was one of the biggest sold out shows she did.
Tonight some more MaDness. I cant wait.

From Amaru:
So, the Confessions Tour hit Amsterdam last night. It took people forever to get to their seats, and it wasn't until the very last minute, just minutes before the show started, that everyone was seated. It was packed!
The support act Paul Oakenfold was boring, to say the least, nobody was really dancing while he was busy doing his thing. The people behind us were starting to complain that his act was too long. Madonna on the other hand took her sweet time to make her entrance.
The show was supposed to start at 8:00 pm, but she started at 9:30 pm instead. The public transportation authority decided that it was necessary to do maintanance on their trams and rails, which forced many of us to walk from one train station to the Amsterdam Arena Stadium.
Anyway, the lights go out, and the noise is deafening. I sreamed my head off, of course. My girlfriend has no voice today, lol. Madonna opens the show with 'Future Loves', she looked beautiful!
Now, we were seated somewhere up there, and I have to say that we were surrounded by the sorriest excuse of an audience one could ever wish for. No one danced, no one sang along, I mean, all the action was down there, infront of the stage.
That's where everybody was 'one', as Madonna stated. 'We are one, we want love, we want peace, no more war, only love....fuck George Bush....' she had the audience repeat those words.
She also said that there's too much hatred in this world, and that there are many people 'Who walk the walk, but don't talk the talk'. She also noticed that there were many different nationalities present at ther show. She had them show her their flag, and the ones that stood out were flags from TIBET (of all places), Nicaragua and Moscow.
She then said that she liked the idea of so many people with different backgrounds, different believe systems, different colours of skin, to be present under on roof. She sang perfectly, the dancers were out of this world, and she rocked that guitar during 'I Love New York' and 'Ray Of Light'!
Then someone threw their cowboy hat at ther, which she put on her head for a couple of seconds, then threw into the audience. The projection screens were marvelous, and let me tell you, if people don't get the message now, they never will. Because yes, she hung on that cross during 'Live To Tell', which was simply wonderful! But she did it for a reason! But most people tend to focus on the cross alone, and thus miss the message.
In conclusion, I must say that having been on the Madonna band wagon since 1983, I have watched this woman grow and grow, the first time I saw her live was during the 'Reinvention Tour', and attending this show was my second time. And let me tell you, you will get your money's worth!

From Arend:
Madonna was great. The voice was excellent and the show was stunning! It wasn't possible to turn your head due to the fact that so much happened on stage. She was and is incredible!
This show contains less political issues and the music was more important this time. She made a joke about our big friend George Bush (NOT) and also Tony wasn't forgotten. But much less than the Re-invention tour. The only thing said about G.B. was FUCK GEORGE BUSH! And the crowd was very pleased to repeat that!
She asked were everybody was from: Spain, Germany, England, Brazil and even someone from Tibet was at the show and told that there should be peace. One HUGE fan saw the first Amsterdam show for the 11th time during this tour. He got a big round of applause.
The show was marvelous. And Madonna caused some commotion with Live To Tell of course. A religious political party (SGP) asked the minister to prohibit this scene wich the minister rejected. He understood the problem of this party and also said that this wasn't such a great idea from Madonna in this time due to all the problems in the world at this moment. He didn't want to do anything about it. The SGP wanted to go to the police after the show to make a complain about the humiliation. Fortunately the SGP didn't show up.

From Caroline:
Almost twenty years ago, my mother accompanied in De Kuip, when Madonna was performing in this stadium with her Who's That Girl Tour. On 3 September she was there in the ArenA with the Confessions Tour. She asked me if I wanted to bring her flag of Tibet, because I was standing general admission. And a dream came true when Madonna asked during the show 'What is that the flag of?'.
A lot of people made photos and/or where filming this, for my mother and me special moment. I would like to get in touch with you if you have pictures of this (even if they are small or not very clear). Mail me: walta.c@mauritshuis.nl
Further, the show was amazing. Only, we are always curious about what was different this time. On tonight's show there where some technical problems with the guitar during I Love New York (no sound), and the lights during Lucky Star didn't work. But despite all the protests of the Catholic Party, Madonna was performing Live to Tell, without any commotion.

From Cedric:
Madonna experienced some technical difficulties with her guitar duing 'I Love New York'. It seemed as if she didn't realize that her guitar wasn't working, because she just kept on playing. A pity that the fans weren't able to listen to her solo....
She made up for it during her speech, though. She really did a long speech. She started her usual speech about how she likes to see all the flags. But then she started walking up and down the catwalk, naming all the countries she recognized. If she didn't know, she would even take off her earset to ask where some of the fans were from.

From Claudette:
We were on our feet for hours but it was worth waiting....she seemed very comfortable with the Dutch audience, I saw her in Düsseldorf (Germany) where she seemed to have some difficulties reaching the audience because they hardly speak English. Tonight she said that Amsterdam has a bad reputation, decadent and indulgent; 'Like me!'
There were some technical problems during I Love New York, maybe because she almost blew the roof off the Arena?! She interacted with the audience, naming the flag-countries, even Nicaragua, Moscow and Tibet were there! She also answered somebody's banner(?); Yes, I recognize your face! And she asked him how many times he had been to the show and that was 11 times!
It was a wonderful night with amazing videobackdrops (has anybody mentioned that yet?!) and I loved the dance she performed during Erotica!

From Dorrith:
After visiting Madonna's first Bercy concert I didn't dare to think that I would enjoy another one in Amsterdam as much as I did in Paris. But, quess what, it happened!
Standing at exactly the same place (who would have thought in such a big venue, yes I was standing in the Golden Circle!) as I did in Bercy, comfortably at the left side where Madonna performed her fantastic Like A Virgin act.
I enjoyed every second of the show and danced, jumped, screamed and sung like it would be my last Madonna concert (you never know if she's going to tour again....)
Madonna continued her 'We want peace, no more war' song like she did in Paris (not that she did that at my first night at Bercy but like I read in the other reviews....) and she took a very big break during the part where she asked where everyone came from, asked some fans how often they visited her tour and she was speaking a lot with the audience.
I've had the time of my life, thanks Madonna, I am already starting to save money for your next tour!

From F.S:
After many hours of waiting for the doors to open, I find myself in the front row, on the left side of the catwalk, with my friends.
At around 20:00 Paul Oakenfold starts his sesion, warming up the crowd for the exciting night that was ahead of us....
Since the Amsterdam Arena has a glass ceiling, we had to wait till 21:30 for the lights to go out and the show to take our breath away.
So the mirror ball comes down and....there she is! Absolutlely gorgeous, relaxed, smiling, in absolute control of the show....what a great performer our Lady Madonna is!
As usual, she greeted the crowd after Get together, but in English. No Dutch words in the whole night.
The show run perfectly until I Love New York. Before she started singing, Stuart and Madonna herself were solving some technical problems with the amplifier of her guitar. It worked good until the last guitar solo she has no sound was coming out of it! So the glorious ending was muted by the failure of the technology. She seemed to take it quite cool (at least until she turned to Stuart, I couldn´t see what happened between them), and explained to us that they were having technical problems and were trying to solve them. But she didn´t sound pissed, even a little bit sarcastic, I might say....
Ray Of Light started and she asked us to jump, as usual. It was a lot of fun.
A funny incident occurred in her post Let It Will Be speech. She wanted us to repeat what she was gonna say,and screams: NO MORE PEACE; WE WANT WAR! and suddenly realized she messed it up, so she says....Wait,that´s not right,i messed up....and put her head down, ashamed. Very cute of her.
She also said, in the beginning of that speech - Where am I? What is this beautiful place? Ahhh! Amsterdam, it´s so beautiful, with this sense of decadence....Sorry I can´t remember how she continued.
Then she said that her favourite part of the show was coming: checking the different flags from all the countries....there was Germany, France (Jái adore la France, she said), Israel (oh my Israeli friends....),etc, and right next to me were this couple from Russia, but she couldn´t understand what they were saying, so looked right at me and asked: What? Where are they from? All this keeping eye contact! I was,as you can imagine, out of myself, screaming RUSSIA at the top of my lungs, she was smiling.
She also recognized a fan in the front row, and asked him how many times he has been in the show. His answer was eleven! Lucky him.
I could continue for hours. The show is incredible, she looks fantastic, the dancers are impressive, specially Cloud, of course.
Before the show Guy Oseary was taking pictures of the crowd, as usual. She seemed very talkative, and calm, and full of energy and smiling a lot.
I won´t describe how each section was because by now everybody knows it by heart. But I can honestly say that this tour is, at least for me, one of her best, as a whole. The two hours just flew, and suddenly 'Have You Confessed?' was shining in the screens, leaving us with a thirst for more, more Madonna.
So,this is my experience. If you have the chance to see the show, you are up for a great night, full of surprises and love.

From Harold:
Just arrived home from a great show again! Better than Paris!
After Let it will be and before Drowned world she kept a quit long time to talk with the audience! Some fans had a possibility to talk personal with Madonna!
In this break she also took some time to pay attention to some ethnic items:
'We hate war! Fuck war! Fuck war! We love peace! We love peace! Fuck George Bush! Fuck George Bush! Fuck George Bush! Fuck George Bush! Fuck George Bush! Fuck George Bush! Fuck George Bush! Fuck George Bush!
She was great, better, best! She also told that Holland is very good for bad people. 'That’s the reason you invite me!' Holland isn’t that bad?!
One terrible thing happened half a way the show. There were two blocks of speakers in the Arena. One in front above the stage. One half a way. During I Love New York the front speakers broke down/fell out. Only music in the back! And that during one of the greatest part of the show! I like the guitar playing! It was just a minute, but it feels like an hour....
Well, I have enjoyed her again and I am ready for a her new Confessions tour part two in 2008.

From Irfan:
She was in a very, very good mood! Smiling all the time, it was just amazing! Show went perfectly, just one technical problem during I Love New York towards the end of the song. Madonna was rocking on her guitar en acting like a rock goddess, only the audience couldn't hear a thing so that looked kida silly : ) When Madonna found out that nobody could hear her, she said: Oops, we are having some technical problems, but that's okay, cause we're together right?
There was a lot of interaction and she joked a lot. Steve played a drumroll everytime she made a good joke. She started saying nasty things about Amsterdam. You guys have a very bad reputation! Crowd didn't expect that. You are liberal, sexual....and the she said: and so am I. That's why I love this city. The crowd went completely wild.

From Jay:
I saw the first show last night in Amsterdam Arena, from the second ring, way up high.
In all, ONE GREAT SHOW. All theatre. There seem to be one little F... up. Going from I Love New York to Ray Of Light there seem to be a break longerthan intended. Madonna said 'We seem to be having some technical difficulties. But that's OK'.
Then asking to see the crowd, the whole city jumping up and down. Tomorrow I'm gonna see the show from the field. A much better place for jumping up and down :-)
Also, I don't know if this is the right place to make a statement like this but I just felt like I had to say this. For the past few weeks religious groups (who of course haven't seen the show!) have been protesting to the scene Madonna puts on in Live To Tell. Even suggesting that Madonna could leave it out just for the two shows in Holland, for their sake.
Seeing the scene yesterday for the first time, I got chills. If these so called religious groups would have an open mind they would see that the combination of the words from Live To Tell, the scene on the cross and the video images is a perfect combination. I am not religious but it is just what I think Jesus would say; 'When will they learn, how will they know'....

From Kimmy:
One word 'AWESOME'! This was my first Madonna concert, I'm not a big fan of her like ya'll but I really like the woman and the music.
Man I've never seen that many gay people in one place lol, I think that's so cool. Paul Oakenfold was the special guest, he was quite good, I didn't expect that at all, but he was quite good.
Then at 21:20 Madonna started, everybody was clapping and screaming, it was so awesome with the discoball, and Live To Tell was beautiful, though I think less songs from the last album was better and then more old hits, though this was so cool.
The best part of the show is when she says, 'Fuck George Bush', and the other part with the little song thingie when everybody has to repeat what she says, she did it wrong lol, she turned to lines around, and then she said, 'Oh I did it wrong', again lol and then we all did it again, so cool....it's so madonna to say all the time fuck, I love that.
At the beginning at the show she showed her finger to the whole venue, and we all did it back. I so enjoyed this show, I think it's one of the best tours ever!

From Maddiboy:
After waiting before the Arena since 8:00am in the morning, the doors opened at 6:20pm.
In the morning it was raining very strong, but by the afternoon the rain stopped and the sun came out.
The show was great. She was talking very much with the audience, but there was some things going wrong, or it means they didn´t work.
On Jump - the stairs which should comes out on the mainstage where Madonna goes up they didn't come out. She was looking scared. After that she goes on the main caltwalk on this one which comes down from the upside and she was watching back if the videowalls split in the middle, because the crucifix must come up as next then, but this was working.
On I Love New York the sound of her guitar went off. But she plays further her electric guitar as like everything were okay. As she sang again in the mic, the sound came back.
And on Lucky star the little lamps inside her white Dancing Queen cape wasn´t working too.
But all these things wasn´t that important. There was so much fun and she counts all flags from the different countries which was inside came together in that arena to have fun.
It was like a big family party, yes it was like that. So many different people from different countries speaking so many different languages and all of us was understand the other one. That was an great experience really.
There were people from Belgium , Czech Republic, Germany (like we was), Spain, Italy, Africa, Russia, Brazilia, Netherlands and Holland of course, France, and the United States.
Many greetings from Germany and big thank you to all people which made our visit in Amsterdam to the greatest two days we´ve ever had on holiday outside of Germany.

From Malte:
I'm coming just back from Amsterdam and I had the luck to stand in the 2nd row in front of the stage - great view!
The show, that I saw the second time after Düsseldorf, all in all was great again. But this time they had a few technical problems and Madonna looked a little bit panicked; the first thing was, that in the last quarter of 'I Love New York' the sound system with Madonnas guitar didn't work - Madonna stared at Stuart Price, which was becoming very very nervous - and then she continued playing the guitar - more than one minute - but there was no sound! So the song ended with a played but not hearable solo of Madonna's guitar.
After that she said sorry and told us, that they have technical difficulties she said, that they try to fix it. The good thing was, that she was talking to the audience a long time because of this, singing with it, made the 'flag-part' longer than normal, while she was listing to hear ear-inlet (Stuart?).
Another thing was, that the cape at 'Lucky Star' was without light. As she noticed that, she closed it very quickly and continued in a normal way. But the show was great again!

From Markus:
I was also at the show in Düsseldorf. But this one in Amsterdam rocked totally!
I danced my ass of the whole show cause I think it the sound was much more better and louder than in Düsseldorf.
I was very much overwhelmed and it touched me really hard in the middle of my heart and soul.
Plus I nearly cried the whole first five songs. Can you imagine that, a grown man 35 and I guess the only not gay big male fan. ;)
Paul Oakenfold played nearly the same set that he was playing in Düsseldorf.
What the most people do not know, is that if you where really near by the arena you could hear very clear Madonna doing here soundcheck.
My ticket I got was for 'Zuid H', I guess means 'Entry H' and this entry was nearby the arena. I arrived there with my best friend and his girlfriend around 16:00-16:30. And there where only 10 people waiting for the doors to be opend. And there suddenly I heard Madonna doing some songs like Jump, Future Lovers, Paradise (Not For Me), Drowned World. I moved more closer to the arena and there the sound was really clear.
This just was giving me more and more a really crazy and 'I just can not wait to see here again' feeling/mood, waiting for the doors to be opened.
The whole waiting at the arena was much more cooler organized than it was in Düsseldorf. In Düsseldorf you just had to wait in the same lines like the people who wanted to rush in for the stand tickets on the main stage. In Amsterdam there where different entry´s for at stage and for seat tickets. If you had a seat ticket you just had a really relaxing/easy time entering the arena.
Somewhere in the middle at the show Madonna is talking about all the different people from different nations, colors of there skins etc. under one roof.
In Düsseldorf this whole thing took just only 1-2 minutes. In Amsterdam the whole thing was more than 6-8 minutes and she was asking people for there flags and where are they from.
While that she was talking to a guy who was shouting to her, if she remembers his face. And she said 'Yes I remember you'. She was asking him back how many times he has been already to here show. And he said 11 times!
Then Madonna made the crowds shout 'We want peace, hell yeah, hell fucking yeah, we are one, let´s have some fun, no war, no more war, no more hate.'
All after all I felt that Madonna was in a much more better mood then she was in Düsseldorf.
At one song she grapped a cowboy hat in pink and put it on her head. After wearing it for 1-2 minutes she threw it back to the crowds.
The cool cape with the little lights did not work in Amsterdam and on 'I Love New York' the sound was bad for just some seconds. Some times the sound was not lip sync with the two bigs screens beside the main stage. But these where just some little mistakes and did not damaged the whole show at all for me.

From Marlene:
Yesterday Madonna performed at the Amsterdam Arena. It was amazing! First of all. I was very close to the stage. She talked and smiled a lot.
At one point she compared herself to Amsterdam 'Amsterdam has a bad reputation of being decadent and indulgent, like me'.
She asked the audience to show their flags and she didn't recognize one of the flags and she asked the guy from which country he was as he answered something she didn't understand 'Benito?' and then she said 'Don't shout at me!'.
She also said she recognized a person in the front and she asked him how many times he had seen her show '11 times!'.
At one point she yelled that we all had to jump, she wanted to see 'sweat dripping of our faces and our asses hanging out'.
'It's good to be back!' she said and I think everyone agreed. Thank you Madonna!

From Matthijs:
Being a virgin in my first Madonna show ever, I was blown away by her and the show. She had much contact with all the people standing in the crowd, and asked us to jump and dance. Especially I Love New York was great! In which she wasn’t afraid to tell us that you can go to Texas to 'suck George Bush’s dick'.
This will certainly not be my last Madonna concert, as she stole my heart.

From Rocky:
Yesterday show in Amsterdam arena was amazing I had a great time! It started a bit late but everything went fine it was a peferct show.

From Simon:
Well what a night, all these months of waiting and finally it was time.
We did not arrive until 7pm, but ended up quite close the the discoball so a good overview of everything.
Madonna was very relaxed and seemed to be enjoying herself. A huge cheer at the crucifix scene, there had been demonstrating outside from some of the Christian groups, who walked around the Arena (outside) during the show to bless the area - they should of come in and enjoyed the show!
Just at at the end of I Love New York most of the speakers stopped, but Madonna carried on and did not seem too fazed by it.
Only slip up was during the flag search and she said she needed another History lesson - I think she meant Geography! Ray of Light was amazing - the whole Arena was jumping like crazy. The crowd loved it!
I've avoided the site since the beginning of the tour as I wanted a surprise on the night - its great to be back!

From Stan:
I have been following your website almost every day for the past 9 months to stay updated about Madonna's Confessions Tour which was going to be my first Madonna concert.
And after all those months waiting, yesterday evening I jumped, screamed and shouted when her face appeared on the screens and her voice covered the arena.
Not to mention my reaction when the discoball opened and I saw Madge in real life for the first time in my life. I still get goose-bumps just writing this and thinking back on yesterday evening and the fact that she is singing in the arena again at this very moment. My god I can't wait till her next show!

From Stef:
We just returned from her Madgesty's concert in Amsterdam. Everywhere in and around the building you could see the adverts of her H&M campaign.
Outside of the Amsterdam arena where some people protesting against the use of the cross during Live To Tell. They distributed flyers with the message 'Madonna , Jesus Loves You'.
The show started 1.5 hours late but we were kept entertained by DJ Paul Oakenfold.
The show started phenomally with Madonna coming out of a disco glitterbal with all those lights inside. She sang beautifully through the whole show.
She spoke no Dutch at all and even left out out the Dutch phrase 'Ik ben droevig' from her song Sorry.
During I Love New York she told us to go to Texas to suck Bush dick. A statement that gave her a standing ovation from the whole arena.
With Ray Of Light we were all asked to get out of our seats and start jumping.
The show ended with a spectacular version of Hung Up and finally the words/phrase 'Have you conffesed yet?'

From Stephan:
On the first Amsterdam night she sat down after the first act, leaned back and sighed 'You know Amsterdam....you've got a terrible reputation....decadence....indulgence....just like me'. Needless to say the roof went off.
I flew back from Shanghai to see her, and screamed 'CHINA' real loud during the flag bit, but should've brought a flag.

From Tanja:
She was absolutely stunning.....And so much energy in the show, I couldn't stand still for even one minute, BOUNCING!

From Vjeko:
I went to see Madonna playing her first of two shows in Amsterdam. She was perfect, X-static, beautiful and very playful. All she wanted was people to have fun, to enjoy.
But, Amsterdam public was very, very cold, I could not believe it! Madonna didn't have to work hard for this audience because they were so lazy, sitting on their seats like on some classic concert at the opera house. I felt ashamed to be a part of that dead audience because one could see that Madonna gave 100% of herself, dancers were awesome and the crowd were like stoned!
All you could see was the lights of mobile phones. It was nice in the begining, it looked surreal, with the purple lights and crystal ball on the stage but then came 'Get together', 'Like A Virgin', 'Jump'....and everyone just clapped at the begining and at the end of the songs. So frustrating!
At the begining of 'Ray Of Light' Madonna asked everyone to get up off their seats and jump....and they did....for about a minute and then she had to tell all over again.
And when she performed 'Paradise (Not For Me)', you could see people in hoards strolling in and out, going to buy some more beers, smoking cigarettes like mad. Terrible and disrespectful!
You should see the end of the show....Madonna almost had to beg the crowd to sing 'Time goes by so slowly'....
My hat down to the biggest and the best....the one and the only dancing queen!

Monday 04 September - Amsterdam Arena

From AMndj:
Madge seemed to be in a good powerful mood cause she smiled almost the whole show. I thought she was really relaxed and enjoyed herself as much as her Crew and the crowd.
People went crazy for Let It Will Be, Live To Tell, Hung Up and I Love New York.
At one point the show became very emotional. She started speaking to the the people about the situation in this world.
She asked everybody where they come from and she repeated the answer loud, so we heard all these countries names and than she asked us, to hug the person next to us if he is from an another country and we all did it.
After this emotional action we sang with her....'We want love, Fuck George Bush, No more war'. It was a very powerful moment singing this together with 60.000 people and with Madonna. And then the Party started again.... :) I LOVE IT.

From Andy:
I watched the Amsterdam show on Sep. 4th after having seen the ConfessionsTour in Düsseldorf on Aug. 20th. The show in the sold out Amsterdam Arena was brilliant again, but the crowd wasn't as enthusiastic as in Düsseldorf.
Her speech was much longer than the one in Düsseldorf....she talked much more and asked her fans where they were coming from. Then she wanted us all to hug each other and to shout 'F*ck George Bush!'. After a while she sat down and drank some water....she said 'Cheers!' but the crowd didn't react. So she screamed 'I said Cheers, motherf*ckers!'
What I pointed out was that in Düsseldorf she welcomed her audience in German, in Amsterdam she did it in English. Why didn't she say a few words in Dutch? And why were the dutch words in 'Sorry' - Ik ben droevig - cut out? Anyways, an amazing show....again and again!

From Arjan:
I've been twice to madonna, the first time I was in Paris 27-08-2006 and the second time I went on the 4th of September in Amsterdam Arena.
Wow what a energy that woman has, two hours of dancing and singing. Paris was amazing, because I was in front of the catwalk. Jean-Paul Gaultier was sitting in the audience. I took some great pictures in Paris.
Seeing it from the side in Amsterdam was also great, because I could see the stadium (50.000 people) dancing and jumping.
A very big surprise was when Donatella Versace showed up behind me. Ten minutes before the concert started she arrived with 2 bodyguards, her daughter and a few young men all in suits. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me, but I could take a picture with my mobile. A lot of people were to taking pictures of her and with her. She was in a good mood, because she was smiling.
During the concert she sat down the whole time and watched the concert from the screens, because people in front of her were standing and dancing. Except during Ray Of Light when Madonna asked the everybody to jump, Donatella stood up and danced. At one point Madonna asked to hug your neighbour of a different culture. Donatella stood up and hugged the man who was sitting behind her, that was a funny moment.
When Hung Up started she left with her people. Madonna was more talkative in Amsterdam then in Paris. She was holding the mic in people faces to ask where they were coming from and to sing along.
A great experience I wouldn't miss. I hope to see her again on a tour in the future.

From Bojana:
I was at Madonna second show in Amsterdam and of course it was masterpiece itself; she was amazing, funny and beautiful as always. It was my first time ever and suddenly my dream come true.
I came all over Belgrade to see her and on the way to Amsterdam arena I was very very excited, singing and laughing but at the same time I was very disappointed. I saw all those people (half of arena) who was sitting on their asses entire show and who was trying to enforce me sitting on mine.
At the beginning I was polite, you know I was in the foreign country but later when it becomes unbearable I couldn't stand it and I said to the one old Dutch women to go to the fucking opera if she wants to sit like mummy.
At one moment Madonna put her bottom against a camera, I hope it was her answer :) Everything was full of energy and Madonna spreads her energy all over arena so my point is that at least she doesn't deserve audience and funs that behave like this on her show.
You don't need to come to the show to respect Madonna (respect your relatives) you have to love her and share your energy with her and other people. Isn't it Madonna's goal all this years?!

From Cinda:
After visiting the Re-invention tour at Paris Bercy back in 2004 we where quite excited. This show was told, was even bigger and better than the last.
It was a great disapointment to hear the acoustic was far beyond perfect. Madonna, a perfectionist, had to do it with her music flying around the Arena.
She seemed very emotional singing Substitute For Love after having an interactive moment with the crowd telling them she would have stopped every war just if she could.
Again she told the crowd to hug everyone standing beside a person with another nation and make us shout 'No more war, we want peace and Fuck George Bush' (wich we screamed a little louder of course).
At one moment Madonna stuck her bottom against a camera, it made her giggle so she couldn't find her lyrics for one moment (it was fun).
You could see she had a hard time with her condition; 48 years old and still rocking every second on stage.
Although her show was a perfect combination of artistic and political statements I've missed the sparkle. But then again I would pay the same amount of money to see her again; even when she's eighty years old.
Madonna; you go girl and I wish you all the luck becoming bigger than Jesus.

From Esad:
I came all the way from Croatia just to see Her Majesty performing, dancing and changing the future in Amsterdam. She wasn't changing the future she was changing the universe.
I went to both concerts. First night concert was late for hour and a half and when she appear from divine disco ball people went wild, everybody was jumping, screaming, spreading positive energy. She was swearing all the time, we had to repeat her words like yeah fuckin yeah, fuck George Bush, we don't want war, we want love, we want peace, everybodys one. It was thrilling, and it makes you think, it makes you wanting to change the future, and believe me I'll do my best to change it somehow!
The whole concert was one big Love disco ball that hits you right in the head. When she asked us to show flags, there were flags from Tibet, Israel, Argentina, Spain, France, Italy, Norway....She was so happy to see us all together in harmony as she said!
The highlight of concert was definitely I Love New York and Ray Of Light, I was feeling like I was in some kind of disco gym, I was jumping and dancing like a maniac, sweating completely.
Before Substitute For Love she said 'Oooo Amsterdam it's good to be back....you know?! Amsterdam has a bad reputation of being decadent and indulgent....just like me! Crowd went wild!
Next night was breath taking just like the first one! She asked us do you know that there are 34 wars going on in a world right now, and if I could stop only 1 I would do anything but I know that's not possible but I want to show them that it is possible to be all together, no matter what country you are from or what religion you are under the one roof like we are now in one big harmony!
In one part of the concert of the second night she said that we have to give a big hug to a person standing next to us....and of course everybody was hugging. In one part of Hung Up when the crowd was singing she sang 'that's the way I like it' (KC & The Sunshine Band) it was totaly spontanious and cool.
There's no one like her....you could totaly see that she's not doing it for money, you could felt the love, you could feel that amazing light that she gives you, you could tell that she's making a huge difference for all of us including the one who say shit about her, and do not aprove her religion, religion of love, harmony and peace.
Thank you Madonna, thank you for giving me hope, thank you for love!

From Jean-Baptiste:
I was yesterday to Amsterdam for the 2nd show (and my fifth one since Dusseldorf). I've got to confess: yesterday was my favourite one.
I don't know why but it was incredible: she was so full of energy, her speech is getting longer and longer (with the now traditionnal 'no more war, no more blood, no more pain, we want peace, f**k George Bush, let's have some fun...etc') and during 'Let It Will Be' she didn't take the camera with the hand on the front of the middle catwalk as usual but showed us her ass giving the camera the finger between her legs.
But my favourite part was when she came just in front of me (for four times during the show) especially at the end to sing 'Time goes by so slowly' with her....I can't feel my legs anymore!
Another amazing show. I can't imagine it was the last time I saw this tour live.

From Jelka:
'Alright Amsterdam! Are you ready to ride with me?' Madonna seemed much happier and chattier than she was at her first night in the Amsterdam Arena.
'Oh Amsterdam, it's good to be back', she said, and: 'I've been smelling a lot of funny smoke around here' - smiling - 'It's bad for my throat!' But she was all smiles.
Stuart seemed to be a bit stoned (or was it pure concentration?) but very relaxed. The atmosphere in the front rows was very intense and everybody went crazy jumping up and down during Ray Of Light and Music.
'Yesterday I got everyone to jump up and down, I want you all to jump even higher!' she said. And so we did! What an amazing, unforgettable night.

From Khosrow:
Madonna gave a great show last night (4th of September 2006) at the Amsterdam Arena. This time the tickets sold out so fast that I could only get the side seats in the mid section. I had had a good overview of everything.
Her voice sounded absolutely fantastic. She looked great. Godthat body of hers. She looked SOOO HOT. The stadium was bigger than Ithought and the crowds were so enthusiastic. From where I was standing it looked like a sea of people dancing and putting their hands in the air.
She blew the roof off of Amsterdam Arena. I have seen many pop/rockconcerts but last night Madonna went above and beyond all other rock concerts. She was in total command of her stage. She said that it was time for a love revolution. It would be impossible and also a great injustice to describe a show of that magnitude. But I can tell you that her music and her showmanship made us sweat. I am not fat, but I think I even lost few kilos last night.
The giant size stadium was totally transformed into a true dance floor. The choreographies as well as the music itself were flawless.
Stuart Price appeared on the screen. If he was responsible for the sound at the show he did a great job. Because he let Madonna's voice to ride his music not the other way around. Madonna's voice was not overshadowed by the hot dance beat. They sort of melted into each other.
All the numbers were great, but I loved her live version of 'Get Together', the still shiny and new 'Like A Virgin', inspiring 'Live To Tell' and 'ISSAC', HOTTER than HOT 'Music' and 'Hung Up'.
We Love you Maddy. You made good on your promise by turning the Amsterdam Arena into the biggest and the most stylish discotheque-dance club ever.

From Kim, Jaap And An:
We went to Amsterdam to see the Confessions Tour and I must say it was breathtaking, the show was so full of energy. I was so lucky to stand in the second row nearby the catwalk.
When the discoball opened the whole place went crazy. Goddamn does she look hot or what! My boyfriend went to see madonna in Paris too and even thought Amsterdam was maximum entertainment. Maybe that's because the fans standing around us were so nice and kind and really like she said. Become one soul, well that was a piece off cake. We had the time off our lives and can't wait for the next explosion. Rock on Madge....

From Leonoor:
I saw Paris 28th, Amsterdam 3th BUT Amsterdam 4th was the absolute best one! She had such a good time smiling, singing, dancing, joking, followed by sticking her ass into the camera during let it will be and there is the finger again! She had an amazing speech with the flags again but she went further and let us hug our neighbour because WE ALL WANT PEACE! After that she let us sing Substitute For Love into the mic several times, I had such an amazing time.

From Mariano:
Hi! I went to the second show in Amsterdam Monday night. It was awesome, the only thing strange was the people. My God, they seemed to be death, nobody was moving or dancing in the sides, only some people in the field seemed to be in the right mood.
Anyway, the show was perfect, Madonna smiled all the time, but I guess it was a tough crowd, even though you could feel a powerful energy in the place. I really liked Like A Virgin and Paradise (Not For Me), nice versions of beautiful songs.
Conclusion: I think next time I'll go to a Latin country to see a Madonna's concert, North people don't have any blood in their veins.

From Matthew:
I travelled all the way from Ireland to see Madonna’s sold out shows in the Amsterdam Arena. She was in great form for both shows even interacting with the crowd more than ever before, asking to see flags from different countries and getting us all to chant an anti bush song with her!
There were some technical difficulties on the first night but I didn’t notice any on the second night. Great shows all round!

From Nikos:
What a GREAT show! Full of music, dance and the right dosage of political messages that touched the audience. The best moment in my opinion was 'Paradise (Not For Me)'.

From Simon:
After waiting in queue we finally got in but from the moment she came on the show was non-stop Madonna was at her best yet! I was in the golden circle and had an amazing view! She was very chatty during her speech before Drowned World talking bout world peace and getting everyone to shout out where they were from and getting them to hold up the flags!
Also she extended I Love New York with a 5 minute guitar rift at end which was amazing. She also commented on how it was good to be back in Amsterdam and all the funny smoke smells coming from crowd and how it was bad for her throat.
Highlights for me were her entrance, Jump, I Love New York, Ray Of Light, Live To Tell and Hung up at the end missed out on a balloon, not happy. All in all was worth the trip over to see her! Madonna Rules!

From Stefano:
'Hello Amsterdam! You really smoke! This is really bad for my throat! You should dance and jump more! I want you to have some fun!'
Madonna was fantastic....but I guess everybody before said the same over here! The higlight of the night was when she asked about the different nationalities over the crowd but she could not manage to understand one flag in particular....she kept on asking 'Where is that from? I do not know!' and then she basically ignored a small group of Italians that kept on screaming 'Italy!' all the time!
I personally loved the 'Live To Tell' part, the controversial 'cross part' it perfectly made sense to me to see her impersonating the pain of the world that does not seem to have end, especially because of the government inability to listen to the people. The light from the cross reflected on the mirrors shed a beautiful message for hope. Is anyone listening?

From Thave:
Reading all the reviews on this site, I get goosebumps on my arms and tears in my eyes. Seventeen years ago, as a sixteen year old boy, I would have never believed to ever get so close to Madonna as I was on Monday night. Just writing this now, makes the energy rush through my body. I saw the show on Sunday and Monday.
The so-called first class seat on Sunday was a big disappointment. Sitting in the highest row of the first ring, on the side of the stage, it was hard to feel connected to what was going on somewhere in the huge depth in front of me. So I walked down the stairs and liked my view there much better. After a lot of fussing with the stewards (You are not allowed to stand here! Regulations!), I stayed there anyway. The show was a blast anyway, but it kind of felt like me and my friend were watching it alone, people on their precious seats around us seemed dead. And this was the fanclub-section!
Monday! With an arena ticket I managed to get into the golden circle and spent the concert to the right side of where the disco ball with the disco queen in it hit the stage. Two hours of non-stop screaming, singing, jumping and dancing. Every now and then Madonna parading by at about five meters distance. Too much! I want to thank the incredible people around me who also had a big part in creating the amazing energy during the show. See y'all next time!

From W!1co:
Yesterday's show (4 september) was amazing. Madonna was in a very good mood. And she sounded amazing.
I never heard her so good live as yesterday. But all the people are boring. I was the only one who danced and singed.
Only with Like A Virgin and Lucky Star did everone sing. But however, the show was amazing. She always stays my Queen.
