Monday 24 November - Philips Arena, Atlanta

From Chris:
I went to see Madonna last night in Atlanta. She was a bit late taking the stage. The scheduled time was 8, but she did not hit the stage until almost 9:40. Having seen the past several tours, I thought this tour seemed quite relaxed and alot of fun! The audience in Atlanta was up and dancing and everyone was having fun. Madonna seemed to be in very good spirits as well. The audience reacted very well to 'Into The Groove', the multiple Madonnas in 'She's Not Me', and 'You Must Love Me'!
The audience requet was 'Express Yourself'. She asked one person for a request - couldn't hear the reply - but she did not like it and moved on. The second person requested 'Justify My Love' and Madonna said that she speaks the whole song, so it was out. The third person was also inaudible, to which Madonna replied 'Fuck You' and decided to pick her own song, 'Express Yourself' which drew HUGE applause. During the second verse, she messed up the chorus, but kept right on going.
Some people seemed a bit confused with all the guitar, especially 'Borderline' but everyone was dancing along, just the same. Overall, I thought the show was fanstastic. Madonna's voice sounded great! As usual, it was all over too quickly!

From Denise:
The concert was great. She dropped John McCain from the video in Miles Away and she didn't dedicate the song to the emotionally retarded. Also, it took a while for her to choose a song from the audience during the request section. She told three different guys to F off because of there choices. One person asked for Erotica and she said F off there is no singing in that song! It was funny. I think finally she may have just picked one. She sang Express Yourself.

From Derek:
I went to the Madonna concert last night with my friend Blair at Philips Arena in Atlanta, GA. Fans will recall she skipped Atlanta on the Confessions Tour due to stopping in Phoenix instead. We were very glad to see she was back in Hotlanta!
Showtime on ticket was scheduled for 8:00 - she came onstage at 9:30, so 1.5 hours late. But, even though the crowd was starting to holler for her and everything, as soon as she arrived, all was forgiven and people were at full attention. The show was not a sell-out, but very few seats were empty.
The sing-along song was Express Yourself. Some guy named Kit in the front row (I was third row) requested some song that she didn't tell us which one, but she made fun of his name. The ironic thing is that he was a buff muscle-bound guy named Kit! Some girl then requested Justify My Love, and she was like, 'I talk through that song. That's not a sing-along song!' Finally, she said they were doing Express Yourself, which we did. And, on the line of 'Make you feel like a queen on a throne,' she pointed back at Kit. Everyone in that area was laughing.
'Into The Groove,' was just awesome with the new beat (think roller disco beat!), and 'Borderline,' was very good. A heavy rock version of 'Hung Up?' It REALLY sounded good! 'Miles Away,' and 'You Must Love Me,' were just awesome, and the song 'Devil Wouldn't Recognize You,' was very cool with the theatrical performance of it. When she did 'She's Not Me,' you should have heard the ovation when the 4 'themed' Madonnas came rising up in the center of the floor dressed in 80's versions of her. It was so surreal to see those iconic costumes.
This was my fourth time seeing Madonna, and I'm already looking forward to the fifth!

From Luis:
Phillips Arena was packed to the top, Madonna was very happy and did performed an impecable show, on the request song someone ask her to sing Justify My Love and she F u =) joking of course and she asked him to request a song we all knew and could sing along - so we went with Express Yourself.
The whole show went steady and amazingly neat. Madonna has so much energy and stamina, I was able to see how toned and great she looks, (not bad for a 50 year old person) a true inspiration proving that discipline pays off.

From Manning:
In the end the sheer perfection and professionalism of every detail of this stupendous show left you in awe. Madonna's conquest of Atlanta could not have been more complete if she were General Sherman in 'Gone With The Wind.'
For 20,000 fortunate fans in Philips Arena Monday night - well, she just took us someplace else. It's not surprising from the woman who practically invented music videos that the visuals were stunning and impossible to describe.
Show director Jamie King just keeps getting better and better; the staging and choreography were witty, surprising, and powerful. The star herself looked beautiful: Is there a more photogenic woman on the planet? And she was in fine voice - strong, full, flexible.
Her musicians were the best; her dancers were flawless, and the power of the sound itself was overwhelming. Above all, Madonna has become the very definition of a performance artist. Her control and confidence and movements are breathtaking; by the time she finished 'Like A Prayer' (possibly her greatest song ever), the audience was in a kind a ecstatic rapture.
It was one of those rare moments in concerts or theatre (and Madonna's concerts are really theatre) where you felt at one, not only with everyone in the room, but with the whole universe. Exaggeration? I don't think so.
This woman has raised the bar for performers time and again, and it happened again last night. Past her prime? She's just getting warmed up. Madonna surrounds herself with the best technicians available. They come through for her, and it's thrilling.
There are so many high points in the show, it's impossible to single them out. I'll mention the tenderness of 'You Must Love Me,' the sassiness of 'She's Not Me,' and galvanizing, showstopping 'Give It 2 Me.' The rest you must discover yourself. Thank you, Madonna. You really are incomparable.

From Matthew:
Last night my best friend (ex boyfriend) went to see Madonna in Atlanta. He called me on his cell and let me listen to the entire show. It was fierce. Even over a cell phone connection her voice was amazing. I actually already saw the show in Boston, but I wanted to hear her live again. The audience was so into the show (from what I could tell). They went crazy when Britney showed up on screen during Human Nature. I just so happy I was able to 'experience' the show again.

From Michael:
It was great to see Madonna's Sticky & Sweet Tour roll into Atlanta Monday night! Madonna's DJ got the crowd going at 8:15 mixing some great old school and dancefloor classics.
Madonna started at 9:30 looking very fit and full of energy! One of my favorite parts of the show was the production for Devil Wouldn't Recognize You. Madonna seems to be more relaxed than ever when playing her guitar. Madonna went through the crowd asking for a request song, but some that they came up with were songs I'm sure she vowed never to sing again. Madonna said, ok I'll pick the request song and it was Express Yourself. The voice and production were flawless, and left the crowd wanting more.

From Scott:
Madonna is a phenom and her show was phenomenal in Atlanta! Madonna was amazing beyond belief! This was my fifth time to see Madonna in concert. I was at The Drowned World Tour 2001, back section. The Reinvention Tour 2004, which I attended each performance both shows at my home town in Atlanta 7 rows back lower stadium seating on Saturday then 7 rows back floor seating stage right on Sunday. The Confessions Tour 2006, my seats were for lower stadium seating and I traveled cross country to Los Angeles.
This time for The Sticky & Sweet Tour 2008 in my home town Atlanta I had the best seats ever and in my opinion the best seats at the arena located at the end of the catwalk stage left at the edge where the stage rotated and Madonna had many focus moments, such as Vogue. I vogued with Madonna. The best part was I was closer to Madonna than ever before and could have touched her and was able to clutch one of her wonderful dancer's hands as did a few other people where I was, as the dancer circled around near the end of the show. Before that Madonna brought the microphone around and we sang along.
The Atlanta audience was great and showed extraordinary enthusiasm like I have never seen before.
When I was very young I only dreamed of seeing Madonna in concert and I never thought I would have the chance. When I went to my first concert I was thrilled beyond belief even to sit in the last row. I feel blessed now to see how far I have come, because this time I was in the front row and inches away from my idol. I and other people in the audience dressed Madonna inspired for the occasion. I wore a metallic shine gray retro outfit with a tie and black and white vest. I was hoping Madonna would stop in Atlanta and thrilled she did.
The new album and concept of the tour is youthful and fresh, which is not easily achieved after a long career and with many new talents in the music industry; however Madonna can achieve even the impossible and does not seem to be afraid to take new direction. She gave us The Reinvention Tour to remember the past and started a new beginning with The Confessions Tour. She now is moving forward with new record contracts and tour promoters and holds on to extraordinary people she has toured with for years, which is brilliant.
Madonna is the Queen! She has been a leader in music, entertainment and fashion since her debut in the industry. I was just a teen in the early eighties when the extraordinary sounds from Madonna came across the airwaves of top songs that inspired me through life.
She was again amazing on stage, top shape physically and breathtaking beautiful as always. She manages to sing and dance never missing a beat or breaking a sweat. As always her dance moves are out of this world and her dancers are extraordinary. She had me jumping up and down and dancing the whole show. I am so thankful she still manages to continue recording and touring. I appreciate her music tremendously.
I will be looking forward to her next move and still dream of one day meeting her in person. I would like to thank Madonna for giving us fans the best over three decades. We love you Madonna!
