Mon 06 October - Madison Square Garden, New York City

From DJ Danny Echi:
The show started extactly at 9:18pm iPhone time. The request song tonight that she did was Lucky Star. My favorite number of the whole show is 'You Must Love Me'.
She made my night tonight by giving us the 'fuck you finger' right after performing 4 Minutes. On the side of the stage while she was getting her hair touched up and drinking water a few fans called her (as she got touched up of course we snapped photos). She turned to a group of us and gave us the finger. It was a classic brilliant Madonna moment.

From J:
I just came back from Madison Square Garden for Madonna's opening night in NYC. The show was amazing. I have seen the past several tours at MSG and the crows was never like this. The entire arena was up on their feet singing and dancing the entire time.
Madonna even stopped to chat by saying how much she loves NYC, and that its great to be home. She never breaks from the script in her shows but tonight she did. The concert was one non-stop dance from start to finish.
The only slow moments were for the ballads 'Devil Wouldn't Recognize You' (so much better then on the CD) and the most stunning version of 'You Must Love Me' which brought many to tears. Madonna was obviously moved because she got lost in the lyrics towards the end, but the audience cheered her on.
All the remixes people have been writing about 'Like A Prayer,' 'Borderline,' 'Into The Groove' had the crowd on their feet. Even the new songs from 'Hard Candy' (which should get better play here) got the crowd dancing.
From start to finish, it seemed the audience was there to dance and Madonna was loving it. During the intro to 'Hung Up' she got the crowd shouting 'Sarah Palin's got to go' while reprising Saturday's refrain of 'Bitch can't come to my party!' I went deaf from the screams and applause at that.
But what was great was the part where she said she takes 'requests.' We have read about 'Like A Virgin' and 'Express Yourself.' Tonight, she turned to someone in the front row who shouted 'Lucky Star.' With that Madonna turned to the band for an 'Oh Shit!' moment because as she said to the audience 'You have to help me out because I don't remember the words!' All of MSG erupted into the song and it was back and forth between the arena and Madonna. You could tell she was having fun laughing and smiling through the song.
Then, into 'Hung Up,' and a quick seque into 'Give It 2 Me' for the finale that blew away the rest of the set list. By the best track of the night in my opinion.
Anyway, I have to get to sleep now....and wait about six weeks. Because I am headed to Miami for the final show of the North American Tour. Can't wait to do it again! See you in Miami!

From Rob:
Opening night in NYC was a blast. Madonna came on at 9:15 and gave it her all for two solid hours. She was in top form, with great energy and as limber as a 25 year old.
The video screens were amazing, very entertaining and moving. She had a good time toward the end when she proclaimed that Sarah Fucking Palin was not welcome at her party. The crowd gave a resounding cheer on that one.
After 25 years in the business, it's undeniable that Madonna is still the Queen.

From Sean Mac:
I've waited 10 years to see Madonna, and finally my wish came true. I've could've went to the Confessions Tour, but the tickets went on sale two days before I paid. She started at 9:30 getting me and the crowd hyped up.
Madonna was fantastic, she showed some emotion to Heartbeat, Borderline, and Miles Away. She almost forgot the words to Ray Of Light and during the request section she points out to this old guy with the glasses and she asked him, 'You with the glasses! You look tired, are you bored?' As soon the camera points at him, he looking around and tries to tell his daughter that Madonna was talking to her, but Madonna says, 'No, I'm talking to you!'
Then she goes, 'What the fuck? I worked my ass off and you paid good money to see me.' Then the guy starts laughing, including me and everybody else. Then she points the row and the left side of the stage and says, 'Why are you sitting down? This is not a Barbara Streisand show!' And the people felt embarrassed and got up!
After dissing Sarah Pelin, lol she did an acapella version of Lucky Star, and closes the show with Hung Up and Give It 2 Me. I'm disappointed at the fact that I didn't bring my camera so all I have is bad camcorder footage on my phone, but other that that, it was a great show. Can't wait for the next tour!

From Steve:
I am lucky enough to have caught the opening night in New York for 'Sticky & Sweet' - and even luckier to get a Row C ticket.
Although before the concert even started, I was against the metal railing. I've seen her many times, but this was the first time I ever made front row!
She seemed to be in very good spirits tonight, commenting that 'It's good to be home.' Many of the songs really connected with the crowd on this level - 'Into the Groove' and 'Borderline' seemed tailor-made for this crowd, but her Gypsy and Rave sections got a very strong reaction.
'You Must Love Me' was a show-stopper, although 'Vogue,' 'Like A Prayer,' and 'Music' also clearly wowed the crowd. Madonna voiced her opinion on Sarah Palin's chances for being invited to one of her shows (i.e., no chance) and chose 'Lucky Star' as the request for the evening.
While the structure of Sticky & Sweet is similar to Confessions, the show is entirely different - her ability to reveal the many aspects of her persona continues to astonish me. I am always filled with joy to watch her, and tonight was no exception -- really a very strong show from a very strong performer!

Tue 07 October - Madison Square Garden, New York City

From DJ Danny Echi:
Last night's second Sticky & Sweet Show at Madison Square Garden was wonderful. This was my 81st Madonna concert and this show is now finally growing on me. She started the show at 9:19pm. When I say 9:19pm that's the time on my iphone and when the arena lights are shut down and the band hits the stage.
Tonight the request song was 'I Love New York'. Much to my surprise she didn't sing a snippet of it and almost sang the whole entire song. She went off on Sarah Palin and ended the song with her repeatingly singing 'Sarah Palin get the fuck off my street, get off my street, get off my street'. The crowd went wild.
She actually said 'Goodnight New York' at the very end of the concert.

From Michal:
I went to the first two shows in NYC. We got into the Madison Square Garden arena around 19:20 (I was among the first few people to enter the arena). Was really thrilled to see the whole stage as well as the screens above it.
On the first show I was a bit further away than on the second show, but was close to aisle, so I had a clear view to the whole stage.
The first show - started around 21:20. I was excited to finally see Madonna on stage, a moment I have been waiting for since I bought my tickets a few months before.
She opened the show with 'Candy Shop' sitting on her royal chair. Loved the part where the white car entered the stage during 'Beat Goes On'.
Then came 'Human Nature' with the cool video featuring Britney Spears. I was so excited to finally see it (as I tried my best not to watch any videos prior to the show).
Afterwards came Vogue which was combined with beats from '4 Minutes'.
Than began the second segment of the show with 'Into The Groove'. Madonna was wearing her red shorts with a the black top (I was wondering whether she would wear this or her pink outfit). I really loved that part of the show. It was really cool to see Madonna jumping a rope.
Then came 'Heartbeat' - just love this song. The next song was 'Borderline' - Rock version, which I couldn't recognize it at first. Loved how she managed to pull it off on stage.
Than came 'She's Not Me' - that was really cool, especially when the whole crowed screamed the line 'She's Not Me' together.... :-)
Than came 'Music' - just like in the promo tour. That song is just great!
During the next video part, Guy Osary was standing next to me (my seat was next to the technical control people). I spoke with him for about two minutes (told him I was from Israel, than we spoke in Hebrew). That was really cool!
Than began the Spanish part - with "Devil Wouldn't Recognize You'. She sang it so beautifully, I almost had tears in my eyes.
Than came 'Spanish Lesson' (not a favourite, but still it was nice).
'Miles Away' was next - Madonna asked us to sing with her (and of course we did). Love this song!
The gypsy version of 'La Isla Bonita' came next (same as during the Live Earth concert). I thought that was one of the nicest parts of the show. Afterwards the Gypsy group played a song while Madonna was sitting (maybe for the time since the show started).
Than came one of the most moving parts of the show - Madonna played her guitar while singing 'You Must Love Me'. I thought it was amazing! Whenever she sang the line 'You Must Love Me' the crowed screamed! And while she sang that line for the last time she paused before the 'Me' for awhile (the crowd screaming), and smiled! That was so cool!
The next part was the 'Get Stupid' video. The crowed cheered for Obama and booed McCain.
Than came '4 Minutes'. I was so excited to finally see that song performed live. The next song was 'Like A Prayer' - the techno version. Loved that! The crowed screamed that song with her.
The next song was 'Ray Of Light' - which seemed a lot like the CT performance.
Than she said she loves NY, and asked us if we are having fun. As the crowd didn't supply the appropriate response she said 'I'm busting my ass up here!' then she finally got what she was asking for. Then she said that her Ego needs our applause. She said she loves NY and that Sara Palin isn't invited to her party or any of her shows. The crowd screamed.
Than she said that this is the part where she takes requests....someone at the front row said 'Lucky Star'. She said she can't remember the words to her old songs (yeah, right....) and asked us to help her....(of course we did). She only sang a few lines and sang 'Hung Up' in the Rock version. Personally, I prefer the original version. Before she started to sing it, she asked us to sing with her.
The final part of the show began with a video of a computer game, and the song 'Give It 2 Me'. It was similar to the promo show (which I loved). We sang the final part of the song with her. The show ended with the 'Game Over' title appearing on the video screens.
On the second show - we had a few pleasant surprises. The first one - we got to see Jason and some of the other dancers before the show started. Apparently it was Jason's BD (someone brought him flowers). Guy Osary was there as well.
The second one - as a warm up show came the Japanese group (can't remember the name). The dancers in the 4 Minutes video are part of this band. That part lasted for only 15 minutes, but it was kind of cool.
During this show, it seemed that she forgot some of the words for 'She's Not Me' and 'Music', but it wasn't too bad.
Before the song 'Miles Away' - she said that this is for all the people who have/had intimacy issues....than she said 'I'm sure you all had those'....(ever since they announced their divorce I wondered if they had a fight that day....).
In the request part- someone asked for 'I Love New York' - she asked for our help (and we did). Half way through the song she said 'Wow, you know all the bad words....' She said again that Sara Palin is not invited.
Apparently there was someone standing with his hands crossed, she asked him if this is how he shows he's having fun.
When the show ended she said 'Thank you New York!'
Had the best time in my life during these shows! Can't wait to see it on DVD!
From Steve:
I am happy to say that I attended the first set of Madonna's four shows in New York City on Monday and Tuesday nights. Happy that she played the indoor arena here, happy that I got tickets at all.
For opening night, I was stuck with a this-is-so-not-happening seat behind the stage. But I assaulted Ticketmaster until my finger nearly fell off - and a Floor Row C ticket popped up....at 4:56 pm. Thank you!
I was seated next to a really hot guy from L.A. who erupted into full screams when he saw his seat - he too had hit Ticketmaster at about five - and then he disappeared instantly, for some mysterious reason!
It wasn't long, however, before I was against the metal railing of the stage. It was extremely exciting for the big stage numbers, 'Candy Shop,' 'Into The Groove,' 'Music,' '4 Minutes,' 'Give It 2 Me.'
It was fascinating watching the crew swirl around the stage at all times - they are invisible to the rest of the arena. And we got plenty of winks from her wonderful, wonderful dancers. She slaps hands many times in the evening - I'm not even sure if I touched her - chaos erupted ever time she approached. I think it may have been someone else who grabbed my finger. Being that close to Madonna comes at a price - namely hearing loss, swollen feet, and clothing that may never be worn again.
I was thus quite happy to plop my exhausted derriere into a fine loge seat the next night. I was seated to a very handsome young man in a Batman mask who screamed his hot little head off the entire night. While I didn't see the gap in her teeth, this seat held its own treasures: 'Beat Goes On,' 'Borderline,' 'Human Nature,' 'Heartbeat,' and "Vogue" were all very enjoyable from the side section. I don't normally go to a concert for the video - but the screens that surround the center stage were exceptional, at times turning into a waterfall or erupting into a volcano, allowing Madonna to make seamless exits.
In the Madonna concerts of this decade, she has informed us: 'Don't ever tell me to stop.' 'It's not my time to go.' 'This is who I am, like it or not.' Tonight, at 50, she says simply 'You Must Love Me,' and it brought down the house. It is said that Madison Square Garden actually shakes under the right circumstances - for instance, 20,000 people jumping up and down simultaneously. Well, it shook Tuesday night. I was standing in the rafters, and I felt the building actually rock during 'Like A Prayer.' It was literally making me dizzy, as I felt the floor move beneath me.
The request slot also had something special in store: 'I Love New York'! And she didn't just sing a line or two - she sang the entire song, a cappella, with the Garden audience! Monte Pittman couldn't resist sending a sharp chord for 'You can suck George's Bush's d@ck!' It may sound corny, but, as they say, you had to be there. Wish me luck getting tickets this weekend!

Sat 11 October - Madison Square Garden, New York City

From Dan:
I was in the third row last night for Madonna show at MSG NYC. Madonna came on about 9:30PM.
The request song for the night was Express Yourself. It was Lourdes' birthday so she dedicated You Must Love Me to Lourdes. Very touching.
During Into the Groove Madonna give the mic to the audience to sing. My friend got to sing the song. It was amazing.
Then for the finale, Give It 2 Me, Pharrell appeared on stage to sing the song with Madonna. He seemed kind of nervous. Can't blame him I guess. But it was awesome. Everyone was totally into it.
Then she kept it going and gave the mic to the audience again to sing the chorus of Give It 2 Me. Madonna got a little upset when people who she gave the mic to did not meet her expectations lets say.
But it was a great night. Madonna was in a great mood and the crowd was alive and digging it. Definitely in my top three for Madonna shows.

From Michael:
OMG! Pharrell closed the show with Madonna during Give It 2 Me!
She took out the McCain pictures in the Get Stupid video? It was replaced with a picture of the American flag with 'Get Stupid' written across the screen. I wonder who the hell she did that for?
She dedicated You Must Love Me to Lola. Tonight was Lola's birthday. Madonna said, (the first time I sang this song she was inside me). Awwwww. This was my third Garden show, during the request sing along part she did Express Yourself, Monday was Lucky Star and Tuesday was I Love New York.
Cool stuff.

Sun 12 October - Madison Square Garden, New York City

From Amador:
I attended the Madonna MSG show on 10/12/08 and I must say it was quite a love fest between the audience and her Madgesty.
My only complaint was that the show started about an hour and forty five minutes after the 8:00 scheduled start time. There is such a thing as being fashionably late but making the audience wait that long was downright arrogant. You would think that after being fined so much in London for a late show that it would not happen again. I am as a big a fan as anyone else reading your website but I must say I was a bit put off by this.
That being said, she sang wonderfully and the dancing was on point. The opening of the show was quite amazing and must be seen to be believed. She sang most of the songs from 'Hard Candy' and I loved how she reinvented all her old songs.
It was two full hours of non-stop singing and dancing and the audience was on their feet almost throughout the performance. I must say that her rendition of 'You Must Love Me' was even better than it was in 'Evita'. The fans that are still waiting to see this show are in for a treat!

From Fernando:
Madonna wrapped up her last show in NYC and it was SPECTACULAR! No surprise guests, BUT we all know this is a one woman show and she knows how to pull it off! It was a perfect night....the crowd was electric, the dancers were amplified and Madonna was top notch!
